I've been interested in working with my hands from a young age. My dad, an old-fashioned sign painter, would bring home scraps of wood for my brother and I to build anything and everything with in our backyard. My love of building things with my hands continued as I grew. At age 18, my dad gave me the opportunity and finances to build a freestanding garage from the ground up at our home. After working in various aspects of carpentry as a young adult, I ended up working at a metal fabrication shop in my late 20s. Eventually, I became a finisher which required much attention to detail but was also very satisfying. After years of abusing my body in metalwork, I realized I needed to find another line of work but knew that it would be tricky as I was over the age of 50. Enter Covid-19. After 25+ years working at the same metal fabrication shop, I was laid off due to lack of work. I spent several frustrating weeks job searching but continued to come back to owning my own business. So I decided to set out on my own and start a handyman business, even if it was in the middle of a pandemic. I love working with my hands and helping people, and a handyman business is a perfect fit for that. I love meeting new people, helping them out and being able to bring my sons along on a job occasionally. I'm grateful that what was a shocking disappointment has turned into a wonderful new career.
