Porch roof | Oct 2020 | Built a porch roof over a double deck, set 6x6 green lumber posts , into a 3ft. Deep x 2ft wide hole and set braces to hold them square and plumb. filled the hole with 3.5.. 80 lbs cement bags. To hold into place. Set the upper 6x6 green lumber posts, on top of the existing decks beam, we had to cut back some of the decking boards, to expose the beam, were are new posts would be sitting on. To care the weight of the upper porch load, we also nailed blocking on both sides of the new post and used a 6in ledgerlock screw to hold everything tight and strong. Braced the new posts square and plumb. Cut out our, 9.5in. X 1.5in. notches so the 2x10 has a seat to sit on and carry the weight stronger. Also nailed and 6in. Ledger lock screws, to told tightly together. Used 2x8x14.s and 2x8x16.s for the rafters, cut 22 for the upper section, and 22 for the lower section. Then 5/8 in. o.s.b. plywood to cover the rafters and set all the aluminum drip Edge and gutter apron. We used synthetic felt paper, to cover the plywood, and as a underlayment for the shingles, we used Owen's corning, duration shingles. Finished it off with, installing a gutter with a drop tube and a downspout, running into the yard.. | $4k | Venetia, PA |
