Tile installation complements new quartz countertops in kitchen These Bismarck homeowners were updating their kitchen with new quartz countertops and chose to complement them with glass/ metal mosaic tile for the backsplash. The customer had purchased the majority of the material and I provided an estimate for labor only. Installation of the mosaic tile was completed over the course of two+ days. The final product is an attractive random tile pattern covering the wall from counters to cabinets.

New skylight in Bismarck home replaces inefficient acrylic version A Bismarck couple contacted me regarding replacement of a skylight in a home they had owned for about four years. The existing acrylic skylight had not leaked that they were aware of, but the husband had been on the roof several times to inspect it and was not convinced it would hold for long. The skylight was in rough shape, including a rotted frame/ curb that had been repaired at least once. It was clear that replacement sooner rather than later was a good idea. The customers ordered a Sunoptics Prismatic Venting Pyramid Skylight and I got them on the schedule. Preparation included installation of a new, pressure-treated wood frame, or curb, on which the skylight was installed. I placed silicone caulk under and in the seams of the treated frame before securing it to the roof and then added asphalt window flashing tape around the perimeter of the frame to help insure against leaking. Step flashing was installed under each row of shingles.

This family was looking to expand their living space off the dining room with the addition of a 16’ x 20’ deck and a sliding glass door for access to it. They preferred composite decking and vinyl railings to keep it low maintenance, settling on Deckorators Tropics composite deck boards in Hana Brown to match the color of decking on the front porch. An egress window on the west side of the deck area required a small “notch out” to accommodate access to the well and window. I suggested wide stairs for a more welcoming entry as well as easier movement of items on and off the deck. Skirting was constructed from CedarTone treated lumber for framing and the same composite decking that was used for the deck surface.
