Jeffries started bringing power to rural homes in the 1940′s working with the Rural Electrification Association. This was a government backed program to bring electricity to rural homes. After running the power lines cross country the crew would bring power into your home and the standard package included two lights and one power outlet. This was usually installed in the living room for reading and to power the new electric radio. A light in the kitchen allowed breakfast to be prepared before the sun came up and actually see what you were eating.
