Essentially- he tried charging me for 4 hours of work, had proof that that was a lie. I honestly doubt he cares. I had 4-5 areas of tiled roof leaking through the attic into a bedroom and needed a chimney cap installing. Left voicemails for a few roofing companies, all trades are crazy busy, no one's answering- thanks Covid! The owner of Action Roofing called us saying that he had looked at the house from the ground, while we were in but we were unaware he was on the property. He didn't feel the need to see where in the attic we had the leaks. 9/28, so weeks later, 2 guys came by as I was leaving work. I had to stay back to let them in, gave them the tiles and cap, explained to them the problems, got their cell number then I left, late for work. On the drive to work, I remembered an area I forgot so I text them a picture, they never responded. My girlfriend returned home less than 60 minutes later and text me, asking if they had arrived at all, seeing the chimney cap still sitting in the garage. We got a bill for $400. I emailed and asked for a breakdown and any guarantees they have of their work, they eventually got an response saying miscellaneous repairs/ labor, and no guarantees. I asked how long the guys spent here, no response. Asked again, no response. On 10/26, during a light rain, I discovered 2 areas of my roof leaking. I called them and asked their labor rates and they said $100/hr. .I explained who I was and asked why I was being charged $400, I asked how long his guys were working on my roof, he said he didn't know. I asked him why I was being charged $400 for at most 2 man hours and he claimed that I was being charged for his initial walk around, and for reading my 2 emails questioning the $400 charge.. He was charging me for reading and ignoring the emails questioning the charge. He asked what I wanted him to do, I said finish the job, he said he'll get around to it. I asked when, he said eventually, or I should pay for what I thought was fair and find another roofer. I agreed.
