Sustainable Projects with ENR architects | Dec 2019 | The sustainable design nature of ENR architects began during youth while collecting salvaged building materials with which to construct play structures and vehicles, and while reading of the Native American principles of respect for resources and their efficient utilization. Today, it is a privilege to participate in a profession where the impact of each decision can contribute directly to the conservation of resources, energy efficiency and health, both locally and globally. As an Accredited Professional in the Leadership In Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program of the U.S. Green Building Council, ENR architects provide sustainable consultation for environmentally rated improvements, such as senior & community centers, retail centers and tenant improvements, down to specific selections for home improvements. ENR architects assist with consideration of green decisions against the practicality of contemporary construction methods, longevity, cost benefits and life cycle. https://www.enrdesign.com/ENR-sustainable.html | Thousand Oaks, CA
ENR renderings | Oct 2019 | A sample variety of perspective sketches and CAD visualizations of design concepts by ENRarchitects. Media include pencil, pen, marker, watercolor, chalk, acrylic, and 3D computer simulations. Actual product photographs of materials can be imported from manufacturer literature, and applied to the 3D computer model surfaces. For example, the wood grain & color, counter-top patterns, or floor finishes can match the product literature. Photo-real sunlight and electric lighting can also be rendered, including surface reflectivity. | Thousand Oaks, CA
ENR scale models | Oct 2019 | Sometimes, nothing conveys a design concept like a scale model. ENR architects has a diverse portfolio of scale models in materials such as wood, museum board, cardboard, plaster, packaging tape, plastic, foam board, etc. The intent is to depict the three dimensional composition by the most simple means. | Thousand Oaks, CA

Ocean Vista Remodel, Patio & Guest Suite Addition, Camarillo, CA | Dec 2017 | A handy, empty-nester couple, nearing retirement, sold their mansion, and purchased a fixer-upper on a sunlit hillside that features the spectacular ocean view of Channel Islands. ENR architects was hired to assist with making minor enhancements to the plan, integrating the lower level parking court, and adding a patio deck. The owner, a retiring engineer, took on the responsibilities of general contracting during construction. Our collaboration included opening the kitchen to the Living-Dining space, so all can enjoy the ocean view. A balcony was added to second floor Master Study, with a new laundry room below it. Both bathrooms were modestly enlarged to provide more spacious showers. Lastly, the Entry Foyer was opened to ceiling height into the Living Room. In California, ocean views inherently include relentless west sunshine, and formidable interior heat gain. Multiple design studies explored various means to incorporate shading and solar screening measures to permit the view, and to reduce heat gain. Additional studies featured more substantial proposed additions, including a lower level guest suite, and a detached office. A key feature, is the addition of a raised, covered entry porch, where passengers and goods can be offloaded, prior to parking on the lower level. The new porch also provides a secondary transition around the structure to the ocean view, split-level patio. A 2nd phase included the suggestion of rebuilding the lower covered parking to include a roof deck, rooftop guest suite, and solar electricity, which was successfully completed. The property is now mildly reminiscent of the Sea Ranch community. With the blessing of year-round comfortable weather, and ever-changing, dynamic views, the successfully remodeled home takes full advantage for a new generation of colorful living. https://www.enrdesign.com/ENR-residential-OceanVista.html | Camarillo, CA |
