We hired Royce at the very end of January of this year to rebuild our upstairs patio. It was to be a 2-3 week job. There was a delay in getting started, but it was OK. The week of the 10th in February, they got busy taking care of things and it was all moving along. On February 28th, we hired Royce to do some other work. He was to paint the exterior of the house and during rainy weather, there was work inside to add vent pipes for our kitchen vent and our pellet stove. Royce's crew spent 3 weeks "prepping" the house for paint. Most of the time we'd see them sitting around talking and smoking. Royce wasn't showing up much anymore to watch them. It was March 23rd before they put the first coat on part of the house and it only because he was holding up the roofer who had referred him. They painted another section a week later, but still just one coat. Our windows and doors had been sealed up with plastic for weeks at this point in time. On April 7th, Royce was at our house and told us that he and his crew would be there the next day to paint the house. The next day was another excuse and no one showing up. That's when I started painting the house and I wound up painting the rest of it. Meanwhile, my upstairs patio was still unfinished as we were waiting on 2 cedar posts to be installed. It had been over 2 months and he still doesn't have a replacement for them, but he tells me that he can get them in a day. I give them a priority on what to fix because the way they had my patio supported, I didn't have any gutters and new ones couldn't be installed until they finished. I was lucky to get someone at my house once a week to patch drywall. Finally, in the middle of April, we fired Royce and got someone else to finish the work. I wound up buying the cedar posts. I bought them on a Monday afternoon, picked them up on a Tuesday morning and we had them installed by 3 pm the same day. Why Royce couldn't do that is beyond me. We hired Royce to do three things and with over 2 months, he couldn't finish anything. He's hardly around to supervise. He always had an excuse for why no one was working. When they would show up, it would be 10 am. Then they'd take lunch shortly after. And they'd leave by 3 pm. And when you take the time to gather up all the tools for quitting time, we barely got a 4-hour workday out of them. I do not recommend Royce for anything.

Highlight of events that leave me giving a thumbs down for service. Estimated repair by contractor was one day to two tasks #1 replace exterior French doors and paint the doors and paint this door 2) add handle to work French gate to yard. Job went four days with a 5th day needed but me but a halt to service. – mixed results. Gate handle is good – no complaints there, issues have been related to door range from: initial miss measurement on door, added cost for material due to miscalculation, dead bolt initially had alignment issues which were resolved on day 4 of task. The kicker was the attempted re was the interior paint job, sanding issue then used sprayer inside my home to paint door results in two problems a) paint job still messed up 2nd time around b) failed to due diligence to protect interior of home, while contactor let me know there was a little paint accidently dripped on comforter turned out issue was much later – bedding ended up with about 75% coverage of light yellow spray on a teal comforter that does not wash out, I tried unsuccessfully. Initially I thought it was due to the sanding which took place in the bedroom without removing the door. Pleasant personality, seems knowledgeable - door and handle were installed however the added time and damage to personal belonging leaves me less than pleased.
