Custom New Home - McLean, Virginia

Nov 2014

When Yeonis & Ellis introduced a new development consisting of just twelve homes in McLean Virginia, Great Falls Construction had the privilege of being selected to build this 6, 845 SF New American style home. The community, christened Mackall Farms, sits on land once owned by Henry Mackall and had remained untouched until development started in 2013. It is now one of the most sought after locations in McLean, Virginia. The homes front exterior features a Carderock 5 stone veneer surrounded by hardi-plank smooth siding painted in a brilliant white. Four round fiberglass columns border the front porch as well as the front portico. The home was finished with flagstone pavers over concrete with limestone cap treads on the front portico stoop, side entry stoop, front porch and rear lanai. The interior of the home features a large 36 direct vent fireplace with a 54 high wood mantle. Richly stained 4 white oak hardwood flooring was installed throughout the home. The lower level features both 2 and 3-piece crown molding throughout while the upper level hall and master suite feature 2-piece crown molding. Wainscot paneling was elegantly used to finish off the entry foyer and powder room.

Contemporary Transformation

Oct 2008

This was a very exciting entire home transformation and addition completed in 2008. GFC added an approximately 250 Square foot exercise room on the bottom level with an additional 250 square foot breakfast room above. New rear and side decks were constructed with pressure treated lumber. Ten new 'Velux' non venting fixed skylights were installed throughout the home with motorized shades in the bedroom areas. The kitchen and family room was completely remodeled to have a more modern and open feel with White Oak hardwood flooring throughout the main level. Frosted glass paneling was used to separate the foyer and family room as well as the Master Bath, water closet and vanity area. A low voltage electric floor heating system was installed in the Master Bath area as well as a hydronic snow melt system for the front walkway.

Custom New Home - Great Falls, Virginia

Nov 2007

This client had a vision unlike any other and a 20-acre parcel of land to build it on. He aspired to build a grand home with influences of both the villas of Tuscany and the lodges of the American West that would also accommodate his young sons active life styles. He also wanted all of this done under a very tight schedule. Great Falls Construction stepped up to the plate and delivered just that. Over a period of just 15 months, the finished 15,000 square-foot home had just about everything you could dream of including an indoor arcade, home theater, full gym and basketball court. Despite its size, the residence features state-of-the-art, energy efficient technology and was built with the idea of contributing to the green revolution. This was achieved by minimizing waste during construction, limiting the use of fossil fuels and building with natural materials. The home itself also features a high-tech engine room with an advanced H/VAC system where 11 geothermal wells transfer both heat and cooling through heat pumps. The air conditioning is on an energy-saving, six-zone system and the Loewen windows are built for maximum draft resistance while the entire home is insulated with Icynene foam.
