Needs refinishing, I have a slightly curved staircase with 14 steps - house built in 1980s. The base is carpeted plywood and will remain so. The carpet on the stairs will be replaced so if it gets damaged or discolored, that's not a problem. And I was thinking of replacing the balusters with readymade wrought iron ones. So it would primarily be refinishing the sides and railings.
