**Beware**- My experience with Mark Williams of Sundeck Medics, the head of this company has not been good, and I do believe it’s important to read my story before you make a decision. Much like everything else, things started good, promises were made and everyone was on their best behavior; its only when issues arise that you get a glimpse of someone’s true self. My story goes as such: A month after Mark completed the deck, we started to smell carbon monoxide under our deck. We initially called our HVAC contractor to see why this was happening and he showed us that when Mark installed the deck, he put a framing board 3 inches away from the HVAC outlet. Having the board so close, doesn’t give free access and causes the carbon monoxide to gather around that area, which then causes the strong and dangerous smell that we were smelling. You would think a deck professional who does this for a living would have known not to block the HVAC outlet and brought it to our attention; It eventually became clear to us that he didn’t know something as basic as this. We then contacted him telling him of the issue (sending him pictures and videos)- this is when the problems started. The HVAC contractor said we need to cut 6-inch diameter holes in the wood so we could run pipes under the deck so the carbon monoxide can freely reach the open air. Getting him to return our calls or text messages was a nightmare. Ultimately, I had to travel for work for a few months and when I came back in July 2020, I reached out to him again. I finally spoke with him and he asked for the HVAC contractor to come out again to mark the holes and for us to sending him pictures and videos of the holes and area that needed to be fixed. Once we did that, he agreed to come out in 2 weeks to cut the holes for the pipes. We waited for 3 weeks and never heard back from him, so we reached out to him again. He said he was busy and needed another 2 weeks; fine, not a problem, we can wait another 2 weeks. 3 more weeks go back and again, not a word from this guy. We finally got a hold of them, and he agreed to come out the same day (in less than 2 hours) to cut the holes- this was a relief for us. However, 4 hours go by and he doesn’t show up nor call, so we call and send him a text message. He responds with “Sorry- will make it tomorrow”. Tomorrow comes and he doesn’t show up nor does he call or text to let us know he’s not coming, despite the fact that we rearranged our schedule so we can be home to accommodate him. Its becoming clear that he is toying with us. We spend the next week trying to reach out to him to no avail; he doesn’t respond to any of our calls nor text messages. I can’t fathom how someone can be so irresponsible and treat another person like this. We’ve had it; we give him an ultimatum; he finally responds. In an effort to protect himself, we hear one inconsistent statement after another. Without ever coming over to inspect the deck, and having previously sent him pictures and videos several time prior, his story is now that cutting the 6-inch diameter holes in the wood would affect the integrity of the deck; despite previously sending us multiple text messages saying it wouldn’t. The new story is he know wants to speak directly with the HVAC contractor to find an “alternative solution”. I can imagine wants going to happen: he’s going to spend the next few months telling us he’s playing phone tag with the HVAC contractor and put the blame on them just like he tried to put the blame on us. I don’t want anything to do with Mark nor his company. My personal opinion of him is that he is incompetent. I don’t trust a word Mark says. He’s brushed us off for nearly 3 months, doesn’t respond for weeks at a time, doesn’t show up for appointments, makes false promises, and has been a cause of major stress in our lives. Knowing what I know now, I WOULD HAVE NEVER HIRED HIM, and would never recommend him to anyone. He should be ashamed of himself for putting us through this.
