Hired sewell landscaping before doing our homework. Big mistake. They broke our sidewalk and refused to take care of. When we said that they need to fix it before final payment,John decided he would try and replace himself rather than hire a concrete subcontractor. He showed up with a trailer full of concrete and poured the concrete with no forms built. The guys he arranged to help left after a pay dispute and John scooped up all the concrete and left a huge mess in our yard. Within an hour he was calling and texting demanding full payment. On Sunday he called and left a 2+ minute message about how he's trying to be nice but if we didn't pay, he would " take it to the next level". Very nasty and rude, like a big bully. On Monday, my wife and I had a conference call with John. He refused to discuss the sidewalk and said if we don't pay immediately that he would slap a lien on our house and sick his lawyers on us. By Tuesday he emailed us a copy of an incomplete lien form and a screen shot of our property from the DC assessors website. He said"it's out of his hands" and that we would need to hire an attorney. Then we didn't hear from him again until Nov 24th, where he texted and said we have one more chance to pay because he had to"refile" the lien because he made a mistake the first time. He said his lawyers will sue us and try to collect Attorney's fees. Oooh! Now we're scared! We had to hire a different contractor to replace the sidewalk that Sewell landscape broke and refuse to take care of.
