  | Residential Historic Renovation | Apr 2013 | Chrysalis Award Winning Project Residential Historic Renovation This stately home was built in 1886 and remained in the original family's care until it was sold in 2010. Armed with photos of the historic residence, taken at the turn of the century, the new owners were anxious to renovate and restore the home to its former glory. The contractor assembled a team of professionals to assess the existing status of the home, design renovations, and implement the remodeling work. Despite a multitude of visible shortcomings, the core structure of the home was sound, standing the test of time. All existing main and second level walls were constructed entirely of brick and mortar. The 14" thick exterior walls were finished on the interior with plaster. Basement walls were also constructed entirely of brick measuring about 16" thick. After in-depth research, creative solutions, attention to detail and respect for the past, this stately home was brought back to its original magnificence, ready to reign in the 21st century. | Omaha, NE | |
