  | Custom Garage | Apr 2015 | We started by installing an R-19 batt in the walls. Then we installed radiant barrier along truss lines in the attic space. Radiant heat is transferable. Radiant barrier reflects radiant heat back away from the living space. Studies have proven radiant barrier to lower the attic temperature upwards of 30 degrees. We also install a blown in R-38 cellulose insulation. An R-38 should be blown in at 12". Arizona recommends an R-38 or greater. We added 6 to 8 in to bring it up to the R38 value which is the recommended R-value for Arizona and got them 12 in thick attic space.
