Personal Touch Painters was founded in 1988 right here in Raleigh. My goal from the outset was to provide a painting service distinctly different from the run-of-the-mill. My focus was- and is- complete customer satisfaction, combined with an educational, high-touch approach to my customers and their projects. Another goal, for me personally, was the elimination of the dreaded 'punch-list', that bane of customers and contractors alike. Where was it written that a customer had to do a contractor's job? Why couldn't 'finished to your satisfaction' be done by a contractor the first go-round? It would seem that this approach has had its fair share of success for me; in 27 years, I could count the number of punch-lists I've received on one hand, quite literally. In my book, done is done to a fare-thee-well. Another aspect of my company that many customers find refreshing, is the owner/operator actually DOING THE WORK. They know who's on their property or in their house, and that that person is eminently trustworthy. My record of reliability speaks for itself; my mission is to treat every customer's property as if it were my own. Anything less is personally unacceptable. Last but by no means least, helping my customers understand their home and how to maintain it is the 'educational' part of what I do, much to many customers' amazement. Many times I've told folks simple tips to keep the exterior of their house in top shape; more often than not, it's really the first instance anyone has taken the time to sit with them and go over the often ridiculously easy steps to a properly-maintained home! Many folks over the years have been 'propagandized' into buying the old myths such as: -'Your exterior needs painting every three to five years'. Hogwash! My exteriors typically last anywhere from eight to over fifteen years! The keys are simple: proper surface-prep, repairing/replacing rotted or questionable siding/boxing/trim, and applying top-flight products such as Sherwin-Williams professional coatings. -'You have to power-wash your house every year, sometimes twice a year'. Beg your pardon? Constant power-washing can actually shorten the life of an exterior coating! It should only be done as needed, and then only enough to neutralize any mildew, mold or algae growing on the house. I recommend that a house be rinsed with a hose every spring following pollen-season, and every fall once the leaves are down. Keeping gutters clean, and vegetation from contacting the structure, are also key. You'd be amazed how many folks have heard these things the first time from me! -'Spraying paint is the worst way to apply it'. This may have been true fifty years ago, before the advances in technology which led to modern airless spraying systems. My expertise in this application method allows me to guarantee a single coat of exterior fortified latex paint for two years from the completion date- and I've never had a call-back for warranty-work in over twenty-five years! Let me wrap up this little novella by saying, my little painting company has been my passion for nearly half my life. I love the look on a customer's face when their expectations are well-exceeded. Honestly, it's just as important to me as making money.
