Decks by Derek

Sadly, I would select zero stars if I could. I saw the satisfied customers on Google and Next door about Decks by Derek and I had Derek come out to finish our deck. It was a blank slate framed out and ready to be finished. He was hired to do the deck and our fence. After I expressed my dissatisfaction with the asymmetrical rails he expected us to pay the additional costs incurred for his poor workmanship. He refused to finish the job and swiftly took back the fence supplies that had been delivered and blamed us for being "too difficult". He provided us with a small refund which almost covered the labor and supplies required for us to finish the job correctly which involved taking up some of the newly installed trek boards and replacing them as there were holes where the rails had been incorrectly placed and a trip to Lowes to purchase additional hardware that came with the rails but went missing. He was so unprofessional. He told us we should have specified that we wanted symmetry of the rails. I guess I thought the deck professional would know that proper assembly of a deck would involve symmetry and even lengths for each panel. He insisted he should have charged more for the job. He wrote the estimate not us. Our close inspection of his work revealed parts installed incorrectly and missing lag bolts and screws that attach the rails. This is a third floor deck- a fall from that height would surely be very traumatic if not lethal. I am saddened with our experience. I really wanted to hire a local.(edited)

Derek does great work at a great price,,best worker on the planet I was very impressed with his work ethic, very respectful,was always on time,hire him you will be very happy

I cannot sing the praises of Derek and his crew highly enough. Working with him was a joy. He caught the vision of how my husband and I wanted our deck to look, and he executed it beautifully and with professionalism. Derek is humble and willing to listen. He is honest and true to his word. His prices were incredibly reasonable for the high quality of materials he uses. I would recommend him without any qualms to my friends and family and to anyone who wants a beautiful deck, big or small. Thank you Derek! - Karen M.

Derek has built and worked on so many projects for me, I would not call anyone else. He built a beautiful 30 x 15 foot deck with a 12 x 12 gazebo and four sets of stairs as well as a grill area. He Replaced my stairs inside and is in the process of refurbishing my 14 x 10 two story shed as well as adding a great tiki bar to my back yard. His work is so original (custom one of a kind benches) and he is meticulous! He is a high energy and loves to help anyone who loves and rescues animals (that is also his passion). Every time Derek comes by, he brings dog and cat treats which makes my otherwise well braved dogs act like maniacs!! They love him. If you want the best price for really great craftsman work, hire Derek. You will not be disappointed!!
