Buckeye Wall Systems

I hired Buckeye Wall Systems to repair a few pieces of rotten cedar siding and paint my house. Chuck, the owner, seemed nice, and his price was competitive, so I gave him 1/3 of the amount as a deposit / for him to buy materials. After about a month, he began work. Typically, he worked about 2-3 hours at a time, every few days, making little progress. When I texted him to question if we would meet the agreed-upon timeline, he assured me that he would. It became clear, however, that he was falling behind due to not showing up multiple days when he said he would be here (not due to weather). When I questioned him further, he became rude and defensive, but continued to do periodic work. He finished painting our stucco, so I paid him another 1/3 of the amount due (as agreed upon in the contract). At that point, he started disappearing again. At the 2-month mark of a project that was suppose to take 4-5 days, Chuck sent me a text at 6:00 A.M. to tell me that he needed me to give him another $700 for extra materials. When I told him that I wasn't comfortable giving him more money for "materials" since I had already paid him $2,800, which covered MUCH MUCH more than the necessary materials. He tried to say that he had to buy a few pieces of extra wood, but I didn't buy that line. He then called me an "idiot" and refused to finish our job. At this point, he has done almost as much harm as he has done good. He ripped off several pieces of wood and siding, leaving our home exposed to the weather. He also tore a gutter off the house and didn't replace it. I would like all consumers in the Columbus area to avoid this company (it's just Chuck and his wife). Don't get screwed like we did. They are BAD NEWS.
