Garage Addition | Jan 2012 | This classic half-timbered home on a waterfront site was ready for an upgrade. Our renovation/addition leaves the original house intact while adding a garage and updating the kitchen wing. The new two car garage is skewed to fit the available land. A tiered, covered passageway frames the water view on the approach and connects to a new mudroom entry. The renovated kitchen and water view breakfast alcove connect down to the existing family room at the garden level. The second floor features a high ceilinged bedroom with a deck on the water side above the garage, a laundry and hall bath above the passageway, and two renovated bedrooms overlooking the pond above the kitchen and family areas. A new slate roof for the whole house completes this renovation program. | $1.1m | Winchester, MA
Waterfront Residence Addition | Aug 2011 | The challenge at this existing waterfront home was to design a rear addition without any compromise to the Tudor style or the picturesque water views. Maintaining the home's distinct style, the rear addition includes a new kitchen, expanded family room, new deck and stair, expanded bedrooms at the second floor, and a renovated walk-out basement. The enlarged kitchen and adjacent family area maximize views of the scenic pond. The rear yard features a curved, natural stone wall, a stone patio and a terraced garden leading down to the lawns adjacent to Winter Pond. | $1.2m | Winchester, MA
High Tide | Sep 2010 | A steep, north facing waterfront site provides a dramatic setting for this five bedroom island home. The central stone fireplace anchors the entry, living room, home office and stair hall. Open and screened porches, including one with a fireplace, maximize summer outdoor living. Docks, gardens, a tennis court and storage barns complete this rural compound. | $2.5m | Vinalhaven, ME
Greek Revival Home | Jul 2007 | Replacing an out dated Cape, this new, two -story Greek Revival residence makes the most of its site and is customized to the homeowner's lifestyle. With a centrally located kitchen open to breakfast and family areas, the first floor layout is informal and family friendly. A more formal dining room and stair hall open to a traditional wraparound porch. Five bedrooms on the second floor and an au pair suite in the attic complete the program for this new home. | $950k | Winchester, MA
Country Time | Oct 1998 | This new, year-round three bedroom home was sited on twenty acres of south facing pasture land in upstate New York. A deep porch captures and frames the long valley view, providing sheltered outdoor living space for three seasons. The rustic barn aesthetic blends with the agricultural context. | $650k | Cooperstown, NY |
