Cedar Deck with Custom Glass Rail

Dec 2014

When I first showed up to this deck, it needed some TLC. The homeowner along with Williams Remodeling and us designed the new layout of the deck for a very custom feel. Since this was a deck over 1,000 square feet we decided to break up the long sections with a picture frame so there are no splices in the decking, but a good looking board going opposite directions to separate out the living areas and give nice breaking points to the corners. We then built a cedar rail with larger posts (66s) for a bigger feel. We then added black metal spindles to most of the rail and then glass on the main outdoor living area (eating). We topped the railing with a 210 Cedar top cap for a larger spot to lay the drinks and other items on. In the hot tub area, we added square lattice to a privacy wall. To finish it off, we added some deck lights to the stair risers and then we added 66 metal post cap lights to accent the deck in the evening and also to make it more safe for people in the dark. The lights are low voltage and also controlled by a key chain remote control which can turn the lights on and off, but also dim for brightness. In Spring we are coming back to apply a sealer on the wood called Penofin. The homeowner will enjoy the deck and have great views of the river behind.

Timbertech Long Deck Resurface

Nov 2014

Last week, we tore off the old decking and installed the Timbertech's Legacy PVC Capped decking on this deck. This is a long deck, so we added some custom design to the layout of the floor by adding a darker "Mocha" border around the perimeter of the deck, then added 2 more rows to separate the living areas. By breaking out the decking from just a long row, it created a unique style as well as no decking boards are spliced because of the 20' Max of each board. This deck looks amazing. The stone rail and roof was existing, but it makes the decking look that much better. Colors go very well together.

Cedar Stairs with a Deck Behind

Aug 2014

This Deck was a very custom for the homeowners. We worked directly with Wright Outdoor Solutions and the homeowner on this project. They wanted shade for the south facing deck, so we added a pergola. Then they wanted an extra space for a sitting area that was not attached directly to the house to make it have it's own space, we then added another deck to the right side. They wanted as little railing as possible so the deck would flow easily to the backyard, we then built wrap around stairs around most of the deck. Homeowners love it and the deck design turned out great.

New Cedar Deck with Slide and Rock Wall

Jul 2014

The original deck on this house was a smaller builder deck and the yard is sloped. They have a growing family that enjoys being outside and also invites friends over for gathering. We tore off the existing deck and built a new 28x16 deck for the extra space to throw a BBQ, Sit around a table and relax, read a book in the Reading Nook, and have a spot for the kids to play. The reading nook would be furnished with probably a corner couch or similar seating and it's under a custom triangle pergola. For the kids, we built a slide right next to the stairs. We also built a custom rock wall which is about 10' off the ground. I have a feeling the rock wall won't just be used by the kids. I know my brother and I had to personally try the rock wall out. This was a very fun deck to design and build, as well as enjoyed the excitement from the homeowners.

Double Decks, Under Deck System, and New Stone Patio

Jul 2014

This project was a very fun project that turned out great!! We tore off the old decking/railing off the main deck. Rebuilt the Master Bedroom Deck. Designed a new layout for the stairs for the main deck and built new stairs. The homeowner chose the Timbertech's PVC Capped Decking Legacy style with the hand scrapped feel texture. Timbertech's Legacy Tigerwood was the main color of decking, then we picture framed it with Timbertech's Legacy Mocha for the boarders. We installed the Timbertech's Builder rail with Deckorator Spindles. After the deck was complete, Wright Outdoor Solutions came in (which we work with) and they installed a great colored concrete paver patio, a new raised planter box, and wrapped the lower portion of our deck's support posts. We then came back and cedar wrapped the support posts and beam. Then we installed an underdeck system made by InsideOut so the homeowners can enjoy the outdoors even in rain under their deck without getting wet. This deck and patio looks great and the homeowners will really enjoy there backyard this year and many seasons to come.
