Concrete Stoop & Metal Railings

Jun 2015

After quoting job and quickly pulling a permit at the city of Des Plaines we began to demolish the front stoop. The stoop had served the home well considering it was a hollow casting that had become dangerous to the home owner and their guest. The forms were created and first inspection was called in and approved for pour. We first needed to meet the specification for this town. There are several codes that must be met first, although rubble can be used as a filler we also placed a 5 inch bed of small rocks in order to support or hold the concrete. We demoed, hauled away debris, built the forms and spread the base of rock in one day. Poured the concrete, removed the forms and smother the stoop in another. Set the refinished/ freshly painted railings and passed final inspection in a third and final day.
