Decades of experience After decades of experience I believe it must be experience in lying. The problem with lying is remembering the lie. We had Hill country shades & awning come to our new house to check out our awning system. I was told by the owner Mr. A D Pritcher that our system was in great shape and he showed me choices for the new material. I made my selection. Several weeks later Mr. Pritcher sent his crew to change out the cover. When they were finished I was told that 3 of 4 arms needed to be replaced. What could I do?? It would cost under $500.00, wow!! I did not hear from them for over a week so I emailed Mr. Pritcher. He replied saying the manufacturer had gone out of business and they were having a hard time finding replacement arms. That was enough for me, I'll contact them and do it myself. I asked who the manufacturer was and he said he didn't know who it was. Really?? You just told me you knew who it was and they had gone out of business!! (The problem with a lie) I don't understand why people don't keep their story straight. I can deal with the truth any time. I suppose he thought I'd say oh well, why don't you just replace the whole system, no matter the cost. My awning does work except now when it rolls up it's not smooth and soon I'm sure it won't roll up at all. The money I spent on a job by someone with decades of experience was very very expensive. The part that is most disappointing is that he has not offered to reconcile this matter in any way at all, nor acknowledge that he lied, much less apologize for lying.
