In response to Mr Ryan..I cannot mention everything that lead up to our parting company--it would take a small book,So i will just touch on a few things and I' m positive porch readers will understand.First ! I did not threaten to file a lien on mr ryan's property until he threatened to not pay me... I did not get fired or run off the job.. I sent an e-mail informing him that I quit and no longer wanted to work for him and he threatened to not pay me. I sent another e-mail informing him that it was never a good idea to tell someone that your not going to pay them and that he needed to pay me up to the point we are at or i would have my attorney file a lien on his property so he is not being completely honest. He also did not mention that i did the exteriors on both of theses houses and they are beautiful as the interiors would have been had i finished !! And if he is paying another painter $5,600 to finish the remaining work --he is either a fool getting ripped off or he is lying. Before he paid me off we walked both houses together and he also had me show him that all the paint to finish the interior of both houses was there. .. he was satisfied. He also had me sign papers that i would not file a lien on his property and I did. So he paid me up to that point and he held back $1,820 to finish the job plus the paint and we both walked away with this understanding so for him to complain and write me up now ! shows me that he is more vindictive than he is honorable.He also didn't mention that this was not the first job i have done for him. i did another property for him before this and he was satisfied but I was not. He had called my son and had him come out and do work and told my son that i had approved it when i did not. When i found out , I called him and we went over it and he apologized but still it was very wrong so when he called me on this job i wasn't going to do it but my wife convinced me otherwise. Just goes to show you the wife isn't always right although she is my boss . Mr ryan made alot of mistakes especially with the paint and he acknowledged it which surprised me. But, still he wanted me to pay for his mistakes and i did on some but it had to stop somewhere. He never mentions all the extra second or third coating i did that was not in his contract and i did not bill him for it.All he is complaining about is unfinished work that he held back money on..plus the paint to finish and he agreed on it before paying me off. I sent an e-mail to mr Ryan after talking to other contractors and my own crew and i told him that he is so negative and that he never has anything positive or good to say about anything or anybody. The job i did before this one or the exteriors of this job... where are the write-up's on them or just a compliment ? There are none !! This is my point ! There was nothing on this job that could not have been taken care of or worked out . The truth is that Mr Ryan and i have a clash of personalities. we simply cannot get along..it's like that with some folks...That's why he is the only complaint i have on porch.com. I don't have the answer for this ..if i did I could quit painting and bottle it up and sell it. Truth is I don't have the answer! No contractor including Mr Ryan can please everyone. We don;t ever want an unsatisfied customer but sometimes it just can't be done and some cannot be pleased no matter what. Mr Ryan said I hounded him for my money. The contract was clear--he never once paid me on the time according to our contract. I had to ask him everytime and it was embarrassing and uncomfortable. I have a crew to pay and materials to buy ... money is a necessity in order with a signed contract. Mr Ryan acted like there was no binding agreement between us... only what he wanted and when he said but I'm not wired that way. This situation was just two contractors that couldn't get along. If he wants to make it out to be more than that...then that's his problem. and the fact that I quit him just rubbed him wrong and he's acting out on it like some kid having a fit.
