Our experience with Legal Eagle Contractors was disappointing, to say the very least. Was sold on the claim that “skilled contractors” had worked with Legal Eagle for decades and that the project would be a quick three month turnaround. The contractors were not skilled nor did they have any longevity with Legal Eagles, as they were sub contractors whose work project was shoddy and in need of later repair. Several of the subs were fired by Legal Eagle during or just after our renovation. The project supervisor (Enrique Sifientes) had never managed a renovation prior to ours and was fired by Dan Bawden (Legal Eagle) after our train wreck of a renovation. Of course, this did little to redress our failed renovation, which actually took 14 months to “complete” (and is not really finished, as Legal Eagle Contractors abandoned the project). Maybe Legal Eagles was top notch once but the bloom is way off the rose. We lived in our home during the remodel and blocked off the back part of the house. I came home on more than one occasion and workers had pushed through the barricade and wandered into bedrooms. Yes, things went missing. This was a 6 figure remodel. Legal Eagle was also creative with the accounting and would start facets of the remodel, get paid in full for that segment but then stop. When we complained we were warned that Legal Eagles could walk off the remodel and that Legal Eagle had other projects going and financially it did not make sense to send whole crews to knock out our remodel (as we already paid too much and flipped the job). If you still wish to do business with Legal Eagle I would suggest you write into the contract a completion date and specific provisions about who is doing what work and qualifications. Adam P. Criaco

Legal Eagle Contractors is the worst contractor I have ever worked with in my life and I have had four homes remodeled. Told three months it turned into 14 and is not even finished as Legal Eagle Contractors abandoned the project. Maybe Legal Eagles was top notch once but that is a thing of the past. Legal Eagles hires sub contractors who cut corners, did shoddy work and counted on the fact that the Project Manager did not have a basic understanding of construction. Call me, I can give examples for hours. We lived in our home during the remodel and blocked off the back part of the house (kitchen and family room for remodel down to the studs). I came home on more than one occasion and workers were wandering in the house, as they came through the barricade. This was a 6 figure plus remodel. Legal Eagle was also creative with the accounting and would start facets of the remodel, get paid in full for that part of the project but then stop. When the project was about 40% complete we had already paid out 85% of the contract. And when we complained about the delay we were warned that Legal Eagles could walk off the remodel and then we would see real delay. It was explained to us that Legal Eagle had other projects going and financially it did not make sense to send whole crews to knock out our remodel (as we already paid too much and flipped the job). Our project would be worked on when crews could break free from other projects. Our punch out list (after Legal Eagle claimed it was done) still remains open. Legal Eagle Contractors has abandoned the job and has not responded to letters or phone calls. We paid each draw request and now recognize that Legal Eagles was overpaid to the point that the retainer is so low that it is not profitable for Legal Eagle Contractors to finish the job and correct the errors. Legal Eagles abandoned the job. I regret on a daily basis hiring Legal Eagle Contractors. We now have to get estimates to fix what Legal Eagle Contractors was paid to do. A nightmare. Adam P. I love my new kitchen. I had heard from everyone that projects like this last twice as long and cost much more than they are expected to. That was true. But the quality of the cabinetry, the leaded glass work on the fronts of the upper cabinets, and the marble countertops and backsplash made this the kitchen of my dreams. I have run into problems with the electricity and the installation of a small island, but everything else has been perfect.

Yarwell Bath Remodel | Jan 2013 | This dainty pink damsel became someone with something to roar about as she underwent a transformation of materials with mettle, and metal! The bathroom retained the same footprint but beautiful niches, a back-lit mirror, new cabinetry and an extraordinary glass and tile accent gave her new meaning and a solid presence. Emphasis was placed on universal design by using stylistic grab bars, levered handles and a wall-hung toilet to gain more floor space. Photos: Dan Bawden. | Houston, TX | ||
17th St. Bungalow | Jan 2013 | The total redo of an out-dated and dysfunctional guest bath resulted in a vintage reproduction of a charming bathroom with beautiful accents that bring the past forward. A pedestal sink, beaded mirror, wall sconces, and a train rack towel shelf blend beautifully with glass mosaic in the shower walls and patterned floor. Photos: Dan Bawden. Crestwood | Dec 2005 | Legal Eagle designed a spectacular two-story addition and renovated the entire inside of the home. The two-story addition expanded the home of the rear providing a new study downstairs, a master suite above that, and a game room on the first floor behind the pool, topped by a breezy, shady cabana sporting a special non-slip cushy rubberized floor for wet feet. Stairs were built outside for easy access to the cabana from the pool. Walls are removed to visually open up the kitchen into the large den adjoining it, and the entire space was retrofitted with 18 inch thick stucco arches, for a modern Spanish look. Stucco materials were matched outside and river-stone was added at the addition tie-in to add visual interest. | Houston, TX |
