There is a sliding glass door in our foster daughters 2nd floor bedroom that leads to a balcony. We have an alarm on the door but the social worker is concerned that if she were to decide to go out and jump off the balcony we wouldnt be able to get to her before she accomplished that goal. So I have the idea to put some sort of child lock system on the door. She needs to be able to get the door open and get out onto the balcony in case of fire so we cant lock it entirely. What Id like is for her to be able to open the door enough to sound the alarm (an inch or two) but then have to unlock something to get it further and then have to unlock another thing to get it even further. If she can unlock both things before opening the door at all thats no help. (Were back to the problem of her being able to get out before we get there. We need to slow her down a couple minutes.) There is a screen door also. Perhaps we can put one challenge on the glass door and another challenge on the screen door? Thoughts? Ideas? Are you up for the challenge? Thanks!
We are getting ready for a home study and we need to baby proof our house.
