I hired Affordable Painting & Remodeling Solutions to replace cedar wood trim around the house which had been damaged by carpenter ants. I thought the damage was isolated to the front of the house but as it turned out, damage had occurred all around the house. When Mr. Thomas discovered the additional damage, he was very thorough while inspecting the exterior of the house. He only suggested and proceeded with additional repairs that were needed after we discussed this and he physically showed me the damage which had been done. I was shocked to see what these little creatures had done to my house! I would also like to point out, I had two other carpenters and a remodeling company which claimed to specialize in exterior repairs come out to the house. None of the three addressed the additional damage which had been done on the other sides of the house. The damage was not easy to see while standing at ground level but Mr. Thomas's experience clearly stood out and he knew right where to look. Another issue with my house was that, being built in 1971, the original cedar wood trim is "true" dimensional lumber. A cedar 2 x 4 was actually 2 x 4. Lumber yards and all the home improvement stores carried lumber which is 1/4" to 1/2" smaller dimensionally. This is standard nowadays but it presented a problem in that a seamless look could not be created where old boards, which were in good shape, would not match up with new boards. In light of this , one of the carpenters said all the trim on the house would have to be replaced. This would have added several thousand dollars to the cost of the job. The remodeling company stated similar, the "true" cedar could be obtained through a special order process, take 4-6 weeks for special order and also added thousands of dollars to the job. Mr. Thomas again set himself apart and said he could create a mobile wood shop and create ("mill") all the pieces on site. I was slightly hesitant about this because I wanted to make sure the wood grain look would match up to the trim pieces to remain. He milled several sample pieces in the various sizes of trim for me to see before proceeding and the wood grain matched perfectly. While removing the old trim, it was clear to see the ants had been nesting behind the wood trim for quite some time. Fortunately, they had not yet started to damage the framing of the house. Mr. Thomas and his crew cleaned out all the nests and sprayed all the areas prior to installing the new trim. Since the job has been completed, I have not noticed a single ant appearing to come from behind (inside) my siding or trim. Had I contracted with one of the other companies and their failure to address the additional damage, substantial damage would have continued to occur and eventually affected the framing of the house. Thousands and thousands of dollars. Please excuse this long review but not only do I recommend Affordable and Mr. Thomas, I am thankful as well. His care and concern are uncommon and he truly took our satisfaction and best interests personally. This was a big job and he without question saved us several thousand dollars in comparison to what other contractors were going to charge. He chuckled when I told him he is a true craftsman and reacted in a rather humble way for the amount of skills he and his crew possess. He truly is !

This is the third time I have hired Kevin Thomas & Affordable to do work at my home. Our master bath needed a complete update. After meeting with Kevin, he designed three options for us to consider. We researched this project quite a bit and one of Kevin's designs fit what we wanted to do almost exactly. We decided on a few upgrades and the overall pricing was very reasonable in comparison. It was discovered during the demolition phase, parts of the plumbing and electrical lines were not up to code. Kevin and his crew were able to complete these repairs quickly which brought us up to existing code requirements. With the unexpected repairs, the job was completed on schedule and looks beautiful. We are thrilled with our new bathroom! My father-in-law is a retired general contractor and is impressed with the design and installation citing a high quality install, thumbs up! Not an easy approval to get. As with the previous work he has done for us, I highly recommend Affordable and Kevin Thomas. The care he has taken with each job and the quality of work is impeccable !

I hired Affordable to install hardwood flooring throughout my home. The pricing was excellent compared to other quotes I received. Mr. Thomas' knowledge is what set Affordable apart from other companies. I had several areas which required special attention and leveling of the concrete base area. The install went flawlessly and on schedule. New trim was installed and painted which made the new flooring standout and it all just looks terrific! I have received many compliments from friends and family regarding how good this flooring looks! I highly recommend Affordable and will use the company again in the future if the need arises.

Affordable Painting painted the outside of our home in 2018. Kevin Thomas's attention to detail and genuine care for a quality job was immediately apparent. He would quickly report anything that might require additional time or materials, offer up possible solutions and collaborated with us throughout the project. He never made assumptions on what we might want and always verified in advance of any work that would deviate from the original quote. Kevin and his crew were very careful in the work areas, including existing landscaping. We were so pleased with the results of the work they did that we hired them to paint our deck. The work they did before painting was thorough and ultimately resulted in another quality job. We had a few rooms in the house that needed to be painted and we quickly realized that Kevin and his crew would do a much more professional job than we could ever do. We had some water damage on a few ceilings that Kevin repaired as well. The tricky stucco pattern was a bit of challenge but you cannot see where the repairs were done today and we're very pleased with the results. I would recommend Kevin Thomas and Affordable Painting Services without reservation. They are a talented, conscientious, high quality, courteous team who will work hard to satisfy their customers.
