Scott's Plumbing/LSJK Septic

I had used Scotts Plumbing in the past and was charged , what I felt was fair. I called Scotts Plumbing again. Scotty, Scotts son, came out and told me we had copper pipes and they would continue to leak if not replaced. On the first visit he only put in a valve, as my husband had already dug up where the valve was. Scotty said he would return and replace the copper piping with plastic piping. After delaying his appointment, my husband continued to dig up the leaking water pipe and found the pipes were not copper, they were plastic piping with a small pin hole, which was leaking. I immediately called Scotts plumbing and told them what we had discovered. My husband ask Scotty if he , my husband, continued to dig the area and dug the entire 10 ft of piping , would this save us money. Scotty said it would. Scotty came out and replaced approx. 10 ft of plastic piping and added 1 more valve. It took him approx 15 minutes. He charged $600 He did not even have to cover the hole back up. When I ask him why the price was so high, he said it was because he traveled from Carrollton to Franklin 2 trips, we are 20 miles from Carrollton. I will call another plumber next time i have a leak. I think $600 was excessive.
