Andrea, we have no record of you as a client. However, we believe you are hiding behind a fake name. This is our reply to you:
Casey and I are disheartened to read your review, as we truly made every attempt to make you happy. On day two of the project, you told us we were behind schedule, which set the tone from that point forward. We spent the entire project explaining everything we did and subjecting ourselves to your constant ridicule, though you admittedly know nothing about home remodeling. We signed a very detailed contract with you that outlined every cent of the scope of work. The work to be performed could not have been clearer. We did many things for you for free, which I outlined for you in an email – an email you did not acknowledge. Anything charged to you outside of the scope of work was pre-approved – written or electronically - before it appeared on an invoice. I have many clients who look at numbers closely, so you are, in no way, unique for scrutinizing an invoice. You are simply the only ones who could not understand them. I spent so much of my precious time explaining and re-explaining the numbers to you. I even broke them down into a spreadsheet for you on one occasion, to ensure you would understand. Nothing worked. To imply that I would try to slip in numbers to gain a few extra dollars is so petty and ridiculous. It is almost as ridiculous as your accusation that my husband watches YouTube videos to learn his job. Casey has thirty years of experience building and remodeling houses. He is constantly pursuing further education in new and improved methods, and he makes a point to bring the best products and processes to our clients. I’m sorry he doesn’t behave like your favorite HGTV host, nor does he complete a remodel in one weekend. You were horribly disillusioned before you hired us. You did not hire us to work in your house for four months. You hired us to remodel a full kitchen with custom cabinets, two full bathrooms with custom cabinetry, one half bathroom with custom cabinetry, a partial bathroom remodel with custom cabinetry, three thousand square feet of luxury vinyl plank installation, including two flights of stairs, lighting installations, and many little “add-ons” along the way. We estimated a finish date for you, and we achieved that completion date, despite many obstacles and a work environment that was beyond hostile. The work my husband performed for you was immaculate. In the four and a half months we were there, we were on the job site for sixteen weeks, as tracked by our GPS. Your estimation of five weeks is a bit off. Our average workday was seven and a half hours (sorry for eating lunch), and we started at 8:00 a.m. And, yes, we go to Lowe’s and other hardware stores. We do not own a huge warehouse to store every possible product we could ever need. Remodeling is entirely different from new construction. It is always a surprise to learn what the previous homeowner or original contractor did to the home. Knowing what parts and supplies to have on hand ahead of time is impossible. The one time you brought a spit bottle to my attention, in an email, I immediately responded. I apologized, with great respect, empathizing with your outrage and ensuring you it would not happen again. My worker was disciplined and was instructed not to use tobacco products on the job site again. As for our abuse of your air conditioning system, I must, again, disagree. On one occasion, the crew was installing flooring on your second floor. The weather was very warm, and you did not have a single window or door open. You did not provide any circulation of any kind to our crew that was dripping in sweat. You were not even home to ask permission to turn the air conditioning on. The crew was unaware that your mother was in her bedroom when they finally turned on the AC. We never saw the mass of your family huddling together in winter clothes, trying to stay warm, while our heartless crew enjoyed the frosty air. Our smiles are genuine. Our friendly demeanor is who we really are. We do not lie, nor do we disrespect our clients. We are known for bending over backwards to provide the highest standard in home renovations. You simply do not know what high standards are. In the end, our decision to terminate our contract with you was the result of your disrespectful treatment, abusive behavior, and threatening text messages. Though we were so close to completing everything, which was basically a punch list of work, stepping into your house one more day was below our standards. Despite what you believe, a contractor is not your servant. We did not expect you to illegally hold our tools for nearly a month. Moving forward, we legally went above and beyond to appease your insatiable appetite for revenge. Monetarily, we’ve paid you for many things that were well beyond the scope of work. Frankly, money was of no issue to get you out of our lives because you are malicious, draining, evil people. Yet, now that we have settled with you, which represents a resolution of all matters, you start leaving negative reviews. Before the settlement, you left reviews under an alias name. Now you are going back and leaving reviews as yourself. Your review speaks for you. My reply and our work speak for us. Casey and I certainly have more confidence in us.
Sincerely,
Casey and Wendy Harris
