We were rather surprised to see this review after all of the text messages we have from you praising our work and attention to detail. We were originally contracted to repair wood rot and replace screens on a cathedral style screened porch/deck. Upon demolition we discovered that the wood rot was far more extensive than originally estimated. As Mr. Hewitt was not home at the time, we immediately brought this to the attention of his wife and, while showing her the damage, explained that there would be additional work that would be needed. She agreed and acknowledged that we should make the further repairs and continue with our work while we were there. We immediately sent Mr. Hewitt the price revision of the work we completed. Our construction company prides itself on workmanship and professionalism. This job could not be handled by simply spackling over rotted wood. The areas were so damaged, they could not hold a screw or nail. While it is upsetting for a homeowner to learn that their home is far more damaged than originally thought, we are always very careful to explain that unseen problems can be revealed once we are into the demolition phase. Again, we showed the homeowner what we uncovered and it was agreed that we should proceed. Our work was praised in writing. The large trapezoid shaped screens had to be custom built and the special materials were ordered. Most everyone in today's climate understands that certain building materials are unavailable or are on an extensive back order with long wait times for arrival and, such was the case with the metal for the screen frames. There was also a bit of a wait time in scheduling the craftsmen who assemble the screens once the materials finally arrived. None of which could be helped. We kept Mr. Hewitt informed at every step of the process and was finally able to complete the job, much to the written praises from him. The only real problem anyone seemed to experience with this job was when final payment was due for the completed work. Only after sending Mr. Hewitt a letter for demand of payment did we ever receive any negative comments about our work or about our customer interactions. Our construction work is solid, beautifully done and built to last for years...but it is not free. The bill comes due for work performed and agreed to and it is rather petty to publish negative reviews on work previously praised once haggling tactics fail to work.
