Simmons Masonry Service

We hired Simmons Masonry Services after learning it’s a 3rd generation company, finding some good online reviews and receiving a reasonable quote. Unfortunately the service we expect did not materialize. We needed Henry to simply repave our elevated brick porch. He requested a 50% deposit. Henry was simply unreliable - he gave us numerous start dates that he ignored using one excuse after another: a car accident, something I discovered he’s used on other clients; a bee sting reaction; a planned vacation (why give us a date when you know you’re going to be on vacation??). When Henry finally got around to the demo of the original brickwork, he left the debris on our front lawn for over a week (the house we have him working on was vacant)! We only discovered this after getting fined by our HOA. After Henry failed to show up to remove the debris on the day he promised, not only were we fined by the HOA, we also had to hire someone else to do his job! Needless to say, we fired Henry, and offered to pay him for services related to the demo. He then claimed that the charge for the demo was the full deposit. He did not provide us with any receipts for materials he claimed to have purchased. We are still attempting to collect our deposit back… I can’t speak for Henry’s skill as a mason as the job never got that far before I had to fire him. I do not recommend hiring Henry unless you like having to constantly look over his shoulder.
