We contracted with Jacob to build two pergolas in our backyard and a pathway from the fence gate to our pool and pool to the large pergola in April. The pathway was supposed to be sealed to prevent any vegetation growth and he assured me the sealant would do just that but I have sprayed weed killer in the pathway to prevent growth several times. Insufficient sealant and the rock he used is not level but is “permanently” in place due to the sealant…it can only be leveled using a large amount of very expensive sealant and some additional rock. The walkway also was placed too far below grade at the gate and every time it rains there is a large puddle and the walkway remains brown from the mud puddle it creates. There is one 12 X 12 brick that was broken and needed to be replaced with the extra one on hand…not fixed. The smaller pergola was supposed to support a two person swing…however, it wasn’t secured properly and the swing cannot be used due to lack of stability. It’s now a sitting area. The large pergola has never been finished. There are 2 X 12’s that are not the same length (obvious) and held on the main 6 X 6’s by one bolt instead of two and are pulling away from the 6 X 6’s due to the board having but one bolt and the board warping. Again, the large pergola was also to support swings but again it’s not stable enough to do the job. I suggested he brace the two 2 X 12’s every two feet…not done. Additionally, the top boards are not square and held in place by one bracket and bolt. Again, I suggested he use deck screws to “toenail” them in place…unfinished. The walkway from the pool to the pergola is unfinished. In our initial discussions on what was to be accomplished he’d stated they would stain the pergola if we provided the stain…I went out that night and purchased sufficient (3 gallons) stain to do the job. The stain remains unopened. He had reassured me they would finish the job on a couple of occasions. Two of his employees even stopped by and explained they’d been too busy to return and finish the job but would be doing so in a couple of weeks – that was in mid-July. Personally, I wouldn't hire him to cut my grass after this botched job. The main pergola will have to be rebuilt with only the 6 X 6's remaining. If anyone wants photos just ask, I have plenty. Oh, I sent Jacob a final request to fix the issues and if not, to please provide me the source of the hardware so I'd not have to start from scratch...no reply. I will be filing a BBB complaint.

Landco (Jacob Conrad) installed my fence for me. He was very unprofessional (yelled at me several times) and lied on numerous occasions. He said he pulled a permit to install my fence which he did not do. He installed my fence backwards (wrong side facing the neighbor) and would not fix it. I repeatedly tried to get in touch with him and he did not respond. The gaps between the fence pickets are inconsistent and there are large gaps between pickets. I asked his workers to put them closer together and they refused. I filed a small claims case against him and he declined to accept the certified mail. AND he claims his business is a fencing business! This whole ordeal was a nightmare. Don't hire him if you can avoid it.

On 7/11/17, I signed a contract and paid Landco Outdoor Services (Jacob Conrad) $500 to replace a backflow valve on an in-ground irrigation system on a house in the City of St. Louis. Over the next three months, I have tried contacting Jacob more than 20 times through his email, phone, text messaging, and certified letter. In that time he has responded only twice, by email, saying he will do the work. Starting on 9/7/17, since he had not even begun the work, I demanded my money back. As of this posting, I am passing the three month mark and zero work has begun he has kept all of my payment. He has made no responses to my multiple requests to return my funds. This week, I have confirmed with the city of St. Louis that Jacob has neither pulled any permits to do my work nor is he certified with the city to do the work he contracted to do. So, even if he had provided the services we had agreed to, it would have been illegal. Jacob Conrad has not responded to my requests for repayment. I cannot envision a scenario where I would encourage a friend or family member to do work with him in the future.
