GILL CARGILL LANDSCAPES is here to help you with your landscape needs. We believe that landscape installation should always begin with landscape design. Thought should be given as to what a gardener is trying to achieve with their landscape. Proper selection of trees, shrubs, ground covers, and flowers is a critical step in the planting process. GCL is knowledgeable about the many types of plant material to choose from. We recommend the right plant for the right spot in your garden. Proper planting procedures are another critical step in the planting process and we take the necessary steps to ensure that our customers will have a garden that thrives. Thriving Landscapes We want your landscape to thrive long after we complete the installation. It is important for the gardener to take ownership of their garden. Many of the different type plants we install will live with little care; but we don't want them to just live we want them to thrive. We give all our customers care tips to help them master the care for the plants we install. Landscape Design All great gardens begin with a master plan. This plan is a comprehensive drawing showing the future of a proposed project. Step 1 For A Successful Landscape Project We first meet with our clients on site to discuss landscape possibilities for their property. A site analysis is usually done at this time. It is nothing more than a list of existing conditions, a sketch of your property that shows what is on site such as location of trees, steep slopes, and structures. Other notes to take into consideration would be views or privacy. It is at this time that we listen to our customer's wish list. Clients may have a list of plants they would like to see incorporated into the design. They may want a swimming pool, water feature, deck, patio, walk, retaining wall, barbecue, play area, outdoor entertaining areas, or other feature in their plan. Now it is time to develop a base map. A base map is a two dimensional drawing showing to scale your property lines and their relationship to your home or other structures. There are many other issues to consider when planning a garden, Sun and shade, topography, drainage, parking, safety, security, and storage to name a few. Step 2 For A Successful Landscape Project Now that we have a base map drawn we take all the information and bring it together in a two-dimensional drawing showing concepts of how we would like to develop your property. When we design a landscape it is important to take into consideration many of the principles of landscape design such as, balance, scale, rhythm, contrast, unity, repetition, and harmony. Our thirty plus years of experience have given us the talent to provide unique and functional landscape plans at affordable prices. We would like to help you develop your garden and sincerely hope you consider us for your landscape needs.

We engaged Gill Cargill's firm (fall, 2018) to effect about 5 "hardscaping" projects at our home in Cataula-- 2 low retaining walls, a new, larger paver stone patio (which they also sealed), a long, stylized concrete walkway to our storage cottage building, and sodding in both the front and back yards. All told, it took them about a month, working around the rain. We are QUITE PLEASED with the results. We found Gill to be responsive, helpful, and knowledgeable. He was good about giving advice on options, while letting us make the calls as to the cost/benefit to us. Prices were in line with the extent of the work. The "worker bees" were all polite and on time as well. We would use Gill Cargill Landscaping again, and recommend them highly. Craig and Holly S. (fall, 2018)
