When we decided to build a new home, we interviewed six custom home builders. After searching several areas where we could build, we settled on Evans Farm in Lewis Center. A short list of builders was approved to build in this community. I spoke to the developer and discussed some of the shortcomings I found among builders we’d met and asked for suggestions. Stonecliff Homes was one of the developer’s suggestions. I had not heard of this builder, but after learning that Stonecliff would be in the 2019 Parade of Homes, I felt it was worth a look. We had several meetings with Pat and looked at some of his work and his design build process. A year later, we are now living in a beautiful new Stonecliff home in Evans Farm. Throughout the process, Stonecliff displayed a great deal of flexibility, allowing us the opportunity to engage in much of the customization and to create some really special features at a very competitive cost. Through the process Pat remained personally available to us. We’re particularly proud of our walk in pantry, large laundry room, under stair wet bar and spectacular walk in closets. I don’t know if this will be our forever home, but, if we do build again, Stoneclff will be our first call.

It is our distinct pleasure to enthusiastically recommend Stonecliff Homes for your custom built dream home. Our names are Beth and Darry Roseman and this is our story. Our lifetime goal has always been to live in a home that we chose and helped to design to our specs, in the country. Of course it’s one thing to imagine your place, and quite another to see it actually happen. We’d spent decades looking for the location and finally found that perfect place. A great piece of property off a dirt road and up an impressive hill to a ridge with 360 degree views for miles. Well over a year was spent finding, customizing and then focusing on a set of plans that presented our best scenario for comfort, security and a life filled with sunsets falling over a Western horizon. Enter Pat Schultz and Stonecliff Homes. Believe it or not – in our lengthy search for a custom home builder, we learned that most modern day ‘custom’ builders are not interested in a plan you’ve searched for, settled on and literally fallen in love with. Most simply present their own small menu of ‘models’ that they then promise to partially customize within strictly defined limits, to your taste. After attending meetings with a number of large, well-known ‘name’ builders in Central Ohio and beyond, we came to realize that the Internet might provide our last option at finding a true custom home builder. It’s hard to believe that after sending out a massive mailer to more than 25 ‘custom’ home builders in the Central Ohio area, half didn’t even respond. Out of the dozen that did, the brunt of those quickly dropped out after realizing we were serious about not considering any of their models. We’d made it clear in our original Email what we were intending to have built, and where. The last several who seemed to still be interested after speaking with us featured only one who agreed immediately to come out to the country and take a look at our site location. That was Pat Schultz. The rest has now become part of our personal history. Our ‘legend’ if you will. Pat was delighted with our vision and standing on top of our ridge … looked us square in the eye and said: “ I don’t build for everyone who contacts me. If a potential client doesn’t have defined goals and the specifics of their project already solidified – I kindly advise them I am not the builder for them.” Pat promised to build the home we spent literally hundreds of hours locating and customizing. But he did much more than that. His team drew the building plans from the general plans we presented to him, and then worked together with us to make vast personalized changes. Everything from the size of the building and the rooms we envisioned … right down to details like the custom steel cabled railing and composite decking we decided on, to compliment a grand deck that features the hot tub we knew we needed. And true to his word, he absolutely stayed right on budget. Pat even smiled when we surprised him by having an Amish-built ‘tiny’ home constructed on our ridge to accommodate us living on site while our custom Stonecliff home was being built. We’re here now, living our fabulous dream. Pat Schultz proved to be integrous, ingenious, steadfast and dependable to a fault. From that first bonfire meeting on our ridge to take in the view, to the day he presented us with our occupancy permit, Stonecliff Homes entire team has proven that there are still real craftsmen that represent to the finest degree what the building trades are supposed to represent.
