I'm sorry to say I've had a very poor experience with Wally. I hired him to do three things 1) demolish my old, run down shed 2) haul the debris 3) build a new platform for a new shed I was going to build myself to save money. He came on the last Sunday of November to do an estimate and start work, and he asked for $150 up front for concrete supplies, which I stupidly paid. The plan was to demolish the shed that day and come back to pour the concrete for the new platform. He demolished the shed, but left the debris in a pile in my backyard. Throughout the entire month of December, Wally and I engaged in a pattern of schedule a time for him to come, Wally doesn't show up, Wally doesn't communicate with me about why he didn't show up, I finally get a hold of him, he gives me an excuse (sick, family emergency, etc) and we settle on a new date. Whether or not the excuses he gave were true or not are irrelevant--his communication is abysmal. I would have hired a different contractor sooner, but Wally gave me a good price and already had $150 in his pocket. He was also offering to build the shed for free for my trouble. In January, I finally gave in and hired somebody else to finish the job. I told Wally as such and explained that I needed a portion of the $150 returned to me, because I didn't pay him $150 to only demolish my shed. He said he would do that, but has not. If he contacts me and returns some of the money, I would give him a higher rating because I genuinely believe December was a rough month for him. It's okay when arrangements don't work out. But he has essentially stolen money from me after a pattern of poor communication. Not okay.
