Patriot Building Group

We hired Todd Barbee to build an addition/expansion. He claimed to be extremely knowledgeable and licensed, which he is not. He verbally stressed to me that "Everything we do here at Patriot Builders is Christian. I treat my clients like family. I hate builders who mistreat and take advantage of their clients." We gave Todd over $15,000 to get the project started. However, due to unforeseen circumstances we never even started the project. Other then paying an architect $250, NO materials were bought and NO labor was done. It has been 5 months and Todd has only returned a small portion of our money. He has NOT returned over $12,000 of our desperately needed money. We have been very patient and understanding but Todd continues to manipulate the situation with numerous empty promises and one sob excuse/story/lie after another. Apparently Todd has a history and a pattern of stealing from people who hire and sign a contract with him. We consider ourselves fortunate that the project did not move forward. We would have been far worse off than we are now. Todd Barbee is completely untrustworthy. NO STARS review.

The permits pulled on my home will remain open with the possibility of a lien being filed on my home until Todd pays the HVAC bill of over $7,000 and he owes Electric/Plumbing over $12,000. The estimate to repair and finish the work Todd Barbee of Patriot Building Group did not complete is $5,100.00. Todd also lied to the Bartlett Permit Office filing a $2,950.00 permit for an addition on my home. We paid Todd $40,950.00 and only a small amount has been paid to the subcontractors. I paid him the money and he thinks everything is okay because he has scheduled payment plans with the subcontractors. I want the permits on my home closed.

On June 15th, 2017, I paid Todd Barbee, owner of Patriot Building Group, $9,300 as a deposit for ordering materials (windows) in connection with a construction project on my home. He failed to purchase the windows, failed to perform any other work on the project, and failed to refund all of my money despite repeated promises to do so. He has given one excuse after another for not promptly returning money that never belonged to him, for services that were never rendered. Bottom line, he took $9,300, delivered NOTHING, and now I’ve had to retain an attorney to pursue legal action against him.

On May 1, 2017, we signed a contract with Todd Barbee of Patriot Building Group to remodel our home. Paid him a deposit of $9,650.00. Plus paid him all the draws totaling $40,950.00. Work has been done, but sub-contractors have not returned to finish their trim outs due to non-payments on the accounts he contracted with them for our home. HVAC, Plumbing,, Electric, Sheetrock, and Carpet have not been paid. My husband and two daughters cannot move into the home we purchased in April. We are without a home because he has used our money for something else. Very untruthful.
