Zero stars. We came home to a yard that looked worse than when we left that morning. It was a botch job. They didn’t do 3/4 of the back yard at all. They were supposed to cut and haul off trimmings. There was dead grass left everywhere from a mower with a dull blade. When called Chris had many excuses. “The grass was wet because it was raining” but that’s when they came. They also said there was dog poop in the yard. The scooper people came the day before. They came back to “fix” it and did nothing more claiming new excuses. He was not very professional and aside from the excuses for very hostile over the phone several times. He still expects payment for the services that were incomplete. This business doesn’t even deserve half of the payment. This is how sketchy “businesses” make money without doing the work.

I hate writing bad reviews because I am a small business owner myself, but in this case it is warranted. I am downright mortified by the treatment that I have received by Chris, the owner, and his crew. I have been using Wintergreen for a long time for lawn mowing, landscaping and snow blowing. The reason for not switching companies sooner was because I could not find anyone else to come out to my location and all of the neighborhood kids have grown up and moved away. My last experience with Chris was an incomplete spring clean up job where I was forced to hire another contractor to finish the work. Over the past several years I have had to repeatedly call him (3 out of 5 times on average)and his crew back to clean up a very poor job done, both with snow removal and lawn maintanence. I still to date have a very large hole left in my back yard where his crew filled in a removed tree stump. They attempted this twice and it was still done improperly by not compacting the dirt. The first time they just spread topsoil over the shredded up tree stump. I finally gave up that fight. This last time I was met with a very passive/aggressive owner threatening to sue me, take me to collections etc. I have always maintained that I will happily pay his bill when the job is completed. His crew came back this past time at 6:45 a.m. and started to blow leaves that had been left at their first attempt at spring clean up. I ran outside in my robe and said hey, I have neighbors with sleeping babies. His crewman looked at me and said “if I leave here I will never come back, see you NEVER”. I called Chris, let him know how i was treated and let him know it was in violation of municipal code to make that much noise at that time in the morning. Chris didn’t seem to care. I have been nothing but pleasant to him and his crew for many years. I have attempted to settle the spring clean up bill by offering him half as that is what the work that was completed was worth. I have in writing from Chris what he would complete, including photos of the work that was not complete. He was very condescending in his “Final notice” to me saying he was going to sue me over having to clean up 10 leaves and go after attorneys fees and court costs. I have paid him $170 of the $340 dollar bill. I am just disgusted at his passive/aggressive behavior. I have spoken to several other folks in other Eagle River subdivisions that have been met with the same aggressive behavior where he has downright scared some of the women there. One last comment is to watch your bill. They had a tendency to overbill and raise prices without any notice. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
