River Oaks Pools

Our pool Is no where near finished, and we were told we would be swimming in July. Electrical grounding required by code was not done, the gunite shell is extremely miss shaped with wall widths that vary by 5-6” making it wider than the coping in most places, the plumbing return line was barely inside the gunite and had to be moved so it could be tiled. According to initial estimates we’ve obtained it is going to cost us $20,000 more than the contract price to finish our pool. Due to money we paid Jim already, having to buy dirt since ours was hauled off for some reason, and doing corrections required to bring pool to city code. It is my opinion that Jim lacked the resources to build the kind of pool we were promised, and unrealistic expectations were set in the beginning to get our money and a contract. It was so frustrating when weeks would go by with no progress being made and weather was great. Jim missed multiple meetings with us where we had taken off work, rescheduled appointments, or changed our plans to meet with him so we could get our pool done. Our job seemed to be no priority to Jim. He was too busy with new sales meetings to meet with us or the subcontractors he had sent to our home. Majority of his contractors were unprofessional, and most seemed very dissatisfied with Jim. Jim raised a great concern about the gunite beam, our warranty and tile placement moments before demanding payment. Saying we were in breach of contract if we didn’t pay him at that time, and walking of our job. Jim has not sent us his general liability policy per our request and we have not received a released of contract like he told us he was sending weeks ago. I regret trusting Jim to build our pool, it was a terrible experience trying to get him to do the job he was hired to do.

Jim Long and his team of professional built a dream pool to go with our dream house. After spending 28 years in the Air Force and another 4 years working as a contractor for the Air Force, my wife and I finally built our dream home. I told our builder I was only interested in the best to build our pool so he introduced me to Jim. I explained what I wanted and the next day Jim brought a design over that blew me away. It was exactly what I was looking for! We wanted a small Grotto w/a waterfall , swim jets, slide, pool cleaner, a natural rocks waterfall and remote controls to operate everything. Jim delivered and our pool has operated flawlessly! All my friends and associates comment about the quality, layout and design. I couldn't be more pleased!!

Concept Pools built a gorgeous pool for us! It turned out even better than we had imagined! Our hot tub and waterfall are amazing. We also added a fire pit near the pool and that came out beautiful as well. The suggestion to go with flagstone around the pool was an excellent one because it doesn’t get hot and it looks really nice. Thank you Jim and Concept Pools for our beautiful pool!

We initially went with Concept Pools to replace our liner this year after meeting Jim Long, owner, at a trade show last year. We trusted his pitch and years of experience, but what we got was a Green Crew that had never installed pools before. By the time they got our pool, they were on their 4th pool. The installation was not performed properly. I noticed large vertical seams coming up the corners in each of the deep ends after it was filling with water so I called and sent pictures. (our well had been running 2 days at this point) . He sent out 2 of his crew several days later - I had to go home and drain the pool so they could attempt to "push" the seams out. Didn't work. They came back out again, this time Jim Long finally showed up and said the corners needed shaved down as the liner was too big in the corners. So, they shut down efforts to "push" out the seams again, and had to come back yet another time. ( now into week 4) and finally they took the time to correct the corners and actually leave 3 shop vacs running to properly assure the liner was pulled in correctly and seams/wrinkles eliminated while we fill our pool for the 3rd time. I came home to inspect after work and noticed a "bulge" in the floor, sure enough they left an outlet cover UNDER the pool floor. I had to call Jim again and an hour later one of the same guys came back out to remove the item. He knew exactly where it was, and when confronted he told me he told his boss but the boss told him to leave it. This has been a disaster and over 4 weeks - Jim Long has not accepted any blame but has placed it on his crew, the crew boss and the vinyl liner manufacturer. He also offered no discount, no apologies, just mentioned I can mail the final payment to him. Dishonest, assumes no liability, and he sub-contracts his labor and falls victim to their availability and had to change the schedule constantly. Stay clear and find someone else to do any pool work, landscaping, and other services they provide.
