It is quite unfortunate that I have to leave this Review. I have known and considered Jason Q. Bock a friend for a couple of years now. I’ve always liked him and we share mutual friends. I was replacing a toilet in my children’s bathroom. When I removed the toilet, I saw the flange had rusted away and leaked water had caused the wood sub-floor to rot and it needed to be replaced. I went to Facebook and made a post looking for recommendations. Two of my friends recommended Jason to me and so I called him. Jason came over to my house and I showed him the situation. During our discussion I said that I also wanted new linoleum laid and Jason informed me that he does not do linoleum and that he would only do tile. My wife and I agreed that we would go ahead with tile. We all agreed that I would purchase the materials and that I would pay Jason for his labor. I purchased what was needed and the work began on December 4th. Jason arrived at my house that Monday morning at 9am and worked until 2:30pm. On Tuesday, December 5th, he arrived at 4:30pm and left at 4:40pm. He said that he had numerous issues to handle. On Wednesday, December 6th, Jason arrived at 11:30am and left at 2:30pm. Thursday, December 7th, he arrived at 1:30pm and left at 6pm. On Friday, December 8th, Jason arrived to complete the work at 8:30am and left at 12pm. Jason stated that he needed to catch a flight and needed to get going and he was stressed out and my wife assured him that we could just have him complete the job the following Wednesday, December 13th. Now, keep in mind that when I leave for work in the morning it is dark out and when I return in the evening it is also dark out. Throughout the week I never checked on the progress of my children’s bathroom, I just trusted that Jason was doing a great job. I had no reason to believe that he wasn’t giving us a good, quality bathroom. Jason has pictures of his bathroom restoration work and if those are indeed work that he has completed then that, coupled with the recommendation of two friends, was enough to give me peace of mind. It was on Saturday morning after I actually went into the bathroom and looked at the progress that I realized there were serious problems. Let me start from the beginning. The sub-floor that needed to be replaced was never replaced. Jason cut out the old sub-floor and did not replace the wood. This causes issues since the flange was screwed into the backerboard and thus was easily pulled up out of the floor. I then started to notice that none of my tiles were straight. I also noticed that none of the tiles were level. Jason told me that my floor is a “completed floor” and the only thing that needs to be done is to “set the toilet”. This is, by no means, a completed job and in fact, this is a mess that needs to be ripped out and redone by a true professional. None of my edges are done. Jason spilled thin-set mortar up and down my stairs. That needs to be cleaned. Jason made a mess in my garage and my walkway stones. Jason fell and broke my railing at the top of my stairs. We paid Jason $1100 cash for his labor and I requested that he just give me my money back and that I would have an actual professional come out and rip out his mess and start over. He proceeded to tell me to take him to court. So, we will pursue that avenue since that is his wish. BEWARE. Do not trust Jason. He does NOT perform quality work and he will cause you a lot of unneeded stress.
