FA Design and Build is the worst design and build company I have ever dealt with. They are only about making money via change orders. They give you incorrect estimates which looks attractive in the beginning but later you keep paying them in constant change orders. The designer Melissa made many mistakes in the design of our kitchen remodel. The project manager Dylan is really useless, and a major overhead from cost perspective. His primary job as explained to us was to communicate and provide correct status to the customer and remove any hurdles. We had to really beg for status and communication from him and FA and then they would provide some half ass status. We as customer would find issues in the project and plan which this dude should have found as a project manager. If the customer starts managing the project then why the heck we need to pay for this guy. Then, FA sub contracted the work to this dude, Jose and we were told that this dude grew up in his profession as a plumber and he was responsible for water leaks in my home during the construction and neither FA nor this contractor wanted to take any responsibility of water leaks. Because of FA and this contractor we had to rip out our new floors and redo the floors again. We had to again shout and scream at them so that they would accept the fault that they caused the leak. This contractor and FA cheated us of $4000 for putting in plywood over subfloor even though it was not required and of course this was a change order and not part of the plan. I got another flooring company and asked them to do the other side of the house, because if I would have asked these people to do any other flooring work they would have charged at least 3 times more compared to the other flooring professional. The other flooring company did fantastic job without plywood or change orders on the other side of the home and charged 1/3 of these guys were charging. The big boss Robbie, calls himself the chief of operations for our project and his only job is to collect money. After he collected the last payment the big boss did not even have a simple courtesy to say "Thank you" on the phone. If this guy, who is supposed to be a leader in this company, is so uncouth, then just imagine how bad his subordinates are and how bad this company is. So as you can see they call themselves "Flooring America" and their flooring work sucks, they don't do proper design, they dont manage projects properly but they charge more than others for their contracts. Do not go to them for flooring or any other work. These people cannot be trusted with anything and they are never ever allowed near my home again.

Buyer beware! Flooring America takes no responsibility for anything - including its own incompetence - and leaves its customers to bear the costs. While the initial buying experience was positive, we found the rest of our dealings with Flooring America Fairfax unsatisfactory. When we raised the issues we encountered and requested compensation for some portion of the additional out-of-pocket expenses we incurred, Britton Smith, General Manager/Senior Project Manager, cited a portion of the contract we signed as absolving FA of all responsibility. When we pointed out that the section he quoted did not actually address the issues in our situation, we received this terse response: "I am sorry but my original position remains unchanged. Sorry we could not come to a resolution." Unfortunately, this response was par for the course, given the poor quality service provided by FA - including delivery of the wrong flooring, service teams failing to show-up for appointments, phone messages going unanswered, and the poor quality of the installation of both carpeting and hardwood. There are many other choices for flooring in Northern Virginia. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.

Fredericksburg Master Bathroom Remodel | Oct 2013 | The Master Bathroom was the only room in this lovely Fredericksburg home that needed updating. As the second owners of this property, our clients were unhappy with the contractor grade selections that the original homeowners made in this room. They came to us with a few requests- they wanted to expand the shower and remove an awkward column between the vanities as well as replace the tile in all the areas. We used Cambria Somerset quartz on the counters because it harmonized nicely with the colors in the mosaic tile accent used in the shower and on the face of the soaking tub. We chose the same Happy Floors Eternity tile in Gold but used various sizes for the floor and in the shower and on the tub deck, which contributed to the relaxing, spa-like atmosphere of the space. A rich and warm earth tone for the walls (Benjamin Moor's Rich Clay Brown) was the final element in creating a beautiful Master Bathroom to complete an already lovely home. | Fredericksburg, VA
Clifton Project - Full Home Remodel | Sep 2013 | - In the Living Room and Dining Room we painted the walls, ceiling, and trim and replaced the carpet by extending the existing hardwood from the Foyer and Family Room. - In the Kitchen, we added a new countertop and sink and put on a fresh coat of paint. We added an accent color to an area of the Family Room to emphasis the tones in the brick fireplace. - Finally, we updated the Guest and Powder Room Baths with new cabinetry, sinks, and homeowner provided faucets. | Annandale, VA
Contemporary Small Kitchen | Jun 2013 | -We added a small island to the kitchen with sitting room for 2 stools. -The island includes a 12" deep base cabinet with full height doors, two decorative legs, and an outlet on both sides. -The flooring (glossy black tile) previously installed was not changed. -The layout of the perimeter kitchen cabinets remained similar to the previously existing cabinets -- however we updated the style of the kitchen with new Merillat Classic cabinets. -The door style is Portrait with a five piece drawer front. The wood species is Maple with the Sedona stain. -The countertop is Glacier White granite -- the colors in the countertop bring all the different elements in the kitchen together. -We used a white glass tile backsplash to keep the room open and light, and a fun mosaic behind the range. -The appliances were all updated to stainless steel and we added a chimney style decorative hood over the range. | Woodbridge, VA
203K Del Ray Home Remodel | Apr 2013 | This 203K project was a full home remodel in Del Ray, Alexandria VA. We removed all of the interior walls in the first floor to create a "Great Room" - the living room, dining room, and kitchen are now one open space. We remodeled the kitchen and three bathrooms, as well as a full electrical and lighting rework, new flooring (strand bamboo, carpet, and tile), and new paint for the interior. | Alexandria, VA
