Jim and his crew at American Home are amazing. They did an extensive remodel of my home in 2008/2009 and 7 years later the work is still rock solid. They essentially gutted my small 1950s home - tearing out walls, replacing the wiring, windows, insulation, siding, etc. I also had them build a 1000 sq foot addition on the back of the home. There are no cracks or problems with any of it. Solid beautiful work. And the design is exactly what I wanted. Incredibly functional - opening up the original space and addition the additional rooms off the back. The traffic flow is brilliant. These guys are incredibly good at what they do. In addition they are incredibly nice. They were in my home 6+ months - instead of it being a cringe-worthy experience - it was fun. Finding a competent builder that is both someone you want around for a while and talented - that is a trick. With American Home I found exactly that. I recommend them repeatedly to friends and they are always pleased with the work done. Years later I still consider Jim a friend. If I ever move and remodel again, American Home will definitely be my first and only choice for contractors.

I recommend American Home with 5 stars for every parameter important to someone seeking a design/builder for a home addition or remodel. Jim Wilkinson and his tightly knit, loyal crew are brilliant problem solvers, creative thinkers, excellent communicators and are respectful and considerate of their clients' time, personal space, privacy and security. Their bids are reasonable and fair and they stick to them. American Home built an upper floor addition on my 1930s quaint tudor style home in Denver and later added a new front porch. Both projects balanced and fit the original style of my home so well that it appears that they were always part of the original house even though they actually added considerable square footage. American Home had to raise the original steep-pitched roof to transform a dark, floor-less crawl space into a bright, airy, open master suite with two large dormers, large windows, gorgeous stairs,railings, floors and intriguing angles. The project required smart solutions to many challenges. Jim has an amazing eye for designing spaces that balance and fit well with existing structures. He is especially appreciative of the style of his clients' existing homes. I was able to continue to live in the house during the construction of the additions and the crew cleaned up beautifully at the end of each day, keeping the home clean, dust free and comfortable. Compared to other contractors I've worked with, the American Home crew are consistent communicators and good and patient listeners. Jim stays in frequent communication via phone, text and email. Jim has a keen eye for design and does beautiful detail and finish work. Both of the large projects they did for me were completed on time and on budget. There were no cost overruns. I recommend American Home without reservation.

We've hired American Home for several projects on our 1880's Victorian, including a finished attic and bathroom remodel. The workmanship has always been great. We don't use anyone else!

I would not recommend this contractor. He was a poor communicator, unprofessional, perpetually late and discourteous. He provided a very unimaginative design. Unfortunately, there weren't any reviews available when we hired him.
