Sunflower Lawn and Landscaping

Last August a sales rep from Sunflower Lawn & Landscaping called on us and other neighbors to promote their tree service. He suggested that we use them to trim 5 trees on our property. We signed a contract and a couple weeks later they showed up at our house to do the job. They started in our back yard on three huge Silver Maple trees. They began removing every limb on the first tree and then a second one from a height of about 15-18 ft up to a height of 55-60 ft. We stopped them before they had a chance to denude a third Silver Maple. We asked the crew chief what they were doing and he replied that he had been instructed by their “arborist” to “raise the canopy” on all of the trees. We asked them to leave immediately. We were never told by the salesman, or anyone else that they were going to do that to those beautiful trees which we planted here about 34 years ago. Our contract that we signed specifically states that (Sunflower) “will climb the trees & use a cherry picker to trim”. There was no attempt to climb any tree or trim any tree. They used a cherry picker and buzzed off every limb to the point that their is now little shade proved by two of our Silver Maples. My wife and I have never been so upset with a business as we have been by Sunflower! We urge you to look at the complaints including mine that are posted on the BBB website for Sunflower! PLEASE make sure you get at least two or (better) 3 quotes from other tree services before you sign a contract! Once you sign a contract with Sunflower, it will be virtually impossible to negotiate getting any money back from them if you are dissatisfied with their work. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.
