After having 3 contractors cancel on me (through Market Place)for a leaking ceiling. My aunt referred Fifty Fifty to me. Mac was in the middle of a job and committed to coming to our home that night (6pm). He went into the ceiling and fixed the leak and our ceiling looks perfect. OUTSTANDING job at a great price Thanks Big Mac!

I have known Mac for years, and we were always on good terms until I unfortunately hired him to repaint my home after he did an ok job the first time in 2015. He did some other odd jobs for me around my home, like install light fixtures, but beware his mudding skills are very sloppy and so is his painting. I think I went with him out of loyalty, but I will not make that mistake again. He claims he has so many jobs that he doesn’t need more clients because he’s rolling in money. Plus his workers never show up or complete jobs and he has to fire them, according to him. So I always opted to have him come personally. He constantly has to find new people or do the job himself, so he overbooks himself and barley does a good job at the one job he has. He installed a porch light for me and made 7 massive holes in my front foyer and attempted to patch it and sand it, which was an epic fail. I had to keep telling him it was very visible. To which he would respond, “I got you!” He installed a ceiling fan for me years ago but never came back to smooth out the ceiling from the patch work after he said he would. He agreed to do so in our new agreement, which he breached for not showing up for 3 weeks. Then when he finally comes to my home on 7/20 at almost 8 pm. He did a rush job of cutting the edges that you can still see the paint behind. In order to get any work right I had to constantly go behind him and tell him what to do. Our last interaction was not good, as I came to see he’s not a person of his word, nor is he a true professional. My house was in a wreck for weeks while I allowed him time to finish a min week’s job of painting a foyer, hallway, kitchen, living room, and two ceilings. Most contractors would have done so quickly, but it took him over 3 weeks with 2-4 hours each time he came, a total of 4 times and still he only barely completed the living room walls, minus the trim. I eventually had to paint over the walls because it had so many bleed throughs and rough spots. He always assured me he’ll fix it, but he never did. Since I’m very handy with the paintbrush I completed the hallway, living room and part of the foyer and stairway for upstairs, including the trim. When he saw all the work I completed he had nothing to say. He didn’t even apologize for not showing up for 5 days when he said he would before our vacation. His response was “I’m not blind, I see it”. He stated on 7/21 he would be here on 7/22 at 8 am to complete the unfinished job. But in his text message he was more interested in receiving his balance of $400. for a job he didn’t complete. He will fool you and tell you he has oodles of clients that give him their keys. I did make the mistake and allow him in my home for a week while I was away. Nothing was ever stolen, so I figured I could trust him. This is how he earns your trust. I don’t think he’s that dishonest to get himself locked up for stealing, but I assure you that after suffering a heart attack, this guy is not worth the cheap price if you want the work finished in a timely manner without the headache. Update after he calls me on 7/22 at 10:06 am. After speaking with him and him telling me he’s not returning to my home to complete the job, after which I informed him that I would take him to court and write the review he deserved, he said to me that no one reads the reviews and that he’s been to court before. This guy was a guy I thought we could trust. I think his true colors will show once you hold him accountable to a high work standards that he’s not equipped to do. Beware of Chauny McIntosh, aka “Mac” from fifty fifty contracting. The name sure means you’ll be doing 50% of the work since the price is to cheap.
