I used Barringer Landscape twice. The first time they did a great job, knowing I was planning more work. The second time left much to be desired and I will never use them again. The aesthetic design was very nice, rating an "A". The drainage was deplorable, rating an "F". The workmanship was hit or miss, depending on who was working that day, rating from "B" to "D". Cleaning up at the end of the day was the similar, depending on who worked that day-- some days they did a good job, other days they left tools and equipment everywhere, or left with my hose or something else not theirs-- rating from "B" to "F". Warranty work and customer service, in the end, rated an "F". In one area of the yard, when the first set of plants died, they waited until days before the warranty period was over to replace. The second set died again in less than 4 months. They said I had over watered, but they set the irrigation. (They said the second set of plants were not warranted from the day they were planted, but from when the final invoice was sent. So if they installed the warranty plants three days before the end of the original warranty period, if the plants live four days they have no obligation to replace.) I have the same plants in other areas and those plants are doing well, with the irrigation they set. The problem, in my opinion and they have not demonstrated I am incorrect, is ponding of water when it rains. They did not provide a proper drainage scheme. When we get a lot of rain, the water sits and does not drain. This is the third drainage problem I've had with them, which they were oblivious to until I pointed them out. They did correct the first two, but refused to correct this one. They made the design, brought in the soil, set the drainage, set the irrigation, picked the plants, and although two sets of plants fail to live a full season, they state they have no responsibility to correct the problem. While I did like their design, their poor implementation and high cost means I recommend you look elsewhere.

First, please know that I NEVER leave reviews. But, I felt this was worthy of placing somewhere. I began to communicate with Barringer Landscape and John Barringer himself in March 2017. I purchased a new home in Georgetown and needed the back yard done. I had originally considered having a pool put in so I asked the builder to leave back yard as is...without irrigation or landscaping, etc., as it would have been counter productive to uproot everything to put in a pool. It is a very small lot. I decided against the pool...just didn't want to spend that kind of $ or have the upkeep...so I met with John the first time. He seemed very professional and had obvious knowledge. Although we did not talk about specific "budget" ...an obvious mistake... I had a few numbers in my mind as to what I thought I might need to spend. I'm a realistic lady and understand that everybody needs to make money, however, I never in my wildest dreams imagined what was to come. I began to communicate with his office assistant and John himself by sending emails/pics of exactly what I wanted. I made it VERY clear. I had taken the time to describe in infinite detail what I imagined. I had very contemporary and specific design ideas. I received a bid of $111,000+ ..YES you read this correctly!!! I was in total shock! TOTAL shock! The plans were absolutely NOTHING similar to what I'd communicated via email pics and verbal description. It looked more like Versailles... Not close to what I'd conveyed. I was offended to say the least. If you could see my home/yard your mind would be blown. I called John, and tried at best to politely say how shocked I was and that the plans were nothing like I asked and I could not even imagine how he would think that $111 grand would have been an acceptable beginning point for my project. He told me it was just a first rendering and we'd not had the chance to "red line" and modify. I replied, "there isn't a red pencil big enough" (BTW, I was told plans would cost about $150, the bill I received just for the plans was $250) I have had two other reputable landscape companies come out and BOTH bids have between $20-25K.. Barringer had said to me that a large part of his business is having to go in and redo everything for clients that had tried to save $. Well, at $111K... I could change my yard out every few years and still not be at the price he quoted. I'm still in shock. I'm sure there are clients who have had a good experience with Barringer but this unrealistic bid for my project and very small backyard was unacceptable and highly offensive to this single lady.
