This started out as a dreary, dated, dark kitchen. The client wanted cheerful cranberry cabinets. The wall between the living room and the kitchen was demolished to make way for a bright open kitchen plan with seating at the end of the counter where a pair of French doors opened out to the garden. It allowed the clients to sit and admire their garden while enjoying their morning coffee.

This client came to me with an unusual request. She had entered an "Ugliest Kitchen" contest and, as the first place winner, had won enough money to remodel her kitchen. Could I please change this kitchen from "Ugly" to "Dream"? She was a romantic and wanted a romantic, cottage style kitchen. We ripped out all the cabinets and replaced them with light, bright whitewash finished cabinets. We redid the breakfast nook to give it the look of a charming English cottage. What a change! The kitchen went from mismatched seventies wallpaper and flooring which was dark and definitely "Ugly" to a delightful, romantic space she was proud to share with friends and family. It's a shame that I don't have the before photos!
