Sam Irvine was great to work with. He walked us through the entire process, thoroughly explained all of our options, and made sure the installation was completed. We are very happy with the finished product and would use Spartan Construction Group again.

Deck Renewal Turned Complete RE-do! | Nov 2015 | This project started out as a deck renewal with new floor and handrail, with an 8ft. expansion and a portion of the deck covered for entertaining. Once the demo began, it was discovered that the deck joists were not in very good shape. The demo continued, and the deck was built from scratch. From the ground up, it included the customized supports, very solidly built deck floor, with a new roof with exposed cedar rafters resting on cedar 6x6 support posts. The ceiling is T & G pine with a light stain. All rough cedar was left natural. The guard rail is Sheep wire fencing framed inside 6x6 posts. The covered portion of the floor is 1x4 T & G KDAT over 5/4 board underlayment. The stair hand rail is a typical 2x2 wooden baluster to match the existing handrail at the bottom of the deck. The roof is a GAF Weathered Wood Natural Shadow to match the existing roof of the house. The gutters are half-round galvanized with no end cap or screens for ease of cleaning. For the hot summer months, a 52" outdoor fan was added. Low voltage up-lighting gives a nice glow. The gas grill is in place; accessories are added, and the new deck is now ready to enjoy a good football game, gathering with friends and family, or just gazing out onto the property which has a beautiful stream and wildlife down below. | $27k | Hoover, AL
Easy Project with Complications! | Oct 2015 | This little Ranch-style single level home was evaluated for storm damage on the roof. The gutters had taken a beating, as well. The homeowner was scheduled to have her house painted prior to us replacing the roof and gutters. Once the home was painted, we moved along with helping the homeowner with their insurance claim for the roof. On the day we arrived with the adjuster, there had been an electrical surge which damaged the HVAC unit and most of the appliances within the residence. That turned out to be a different claim, but Spartan Construction Group, helped with the entire process. We provided an electrical evaluation of the house, panel, and outlets inside the home. Then we installed her brand new HVAC unit. She went and bought her new appliances and they were installed. A few weeks later, we installed her new GAF Timberline HD Pewter Gray Roof and all new Aluminum Seamless 6" gutters and downspouts with EcoGuard leaf guards. This project was straight forward until the power surge hit most of the houses on the street. Through adversity, we prevailed. The homeowner received quality work in a timely manner. | $15k | Homewood, AL
Outdoor Living Space | Aug 2015 | The homeowners wanted a complete redesign of their patio/deck area. Their old deck was in disrepair, and the flowered areas were too mature and overgrown. After demolition of the old deck, patio, and flower beds, the ground was leveled. Concrete was poured for the new patio and slab for the gazebo. The brick used for the new herringbone patterned spaces around the concrete walk ways were salvaged from the existing walkways and used. This kept the patina and older look of the pavers to contrast with the new concrete and brick work. The electrical and gas was put in place and construction of the Gazebo began. This space included custom fireplace with remote gas starter, two wood boxes, a herringbone hearth, and trimmed with customized mantel made of poured-in-place concrete. The kitchen area included an inset gas grill, plenty of counter space, and a customized area for the "hit of the party," the Kegerator. The countertop was poured-in-place concrete to match the mantel, and the backsplash for the counter was a herringbone brick pattern. The Gazebo structure is set on 3" steel poles wrapped in brick and cedar. It has cedar trimmed rafters with an exposed pine T&G ceiling, stained to bring out its beauty. All of this is enhanced with low voltage dimmable uplighting and two 52" outdoor ceiling fans. The roof was constructed with GAF Timberline HD Slate shingles. The landscaping was completed in all of the newly created beds and finished off with landscape lighting. | $69k | Mountain Brk, AL
Mtn Brook Roof Repair | Aug 2015 | A tree fell on the corner of the front porch roof, damaging the shingles, decking, soffit, fascia, and gutter. We replaced the decking, felt, and shingles. The soffit and fascia were repaired and painted. A new run of gutter was placed across the front section of the porch to keep the gutter seamless. | $475 | Milford, MA
Homewood Roof Replacement | Jun 2015 | Spartan Group was asked by the homeowner to inspect roof for damage after a strong wind and hail storm. Damage was noticed and the homeowner notified his insurance claims department and an adjuster was sent out to make his inspection. We placed a new GAF Timberline HD Weathered Wood shingle, replacing the entire roof. There was a significant problem with the ventilation of the attic, so we removed the whirly birds and placed a new MasterFlow Pro2 power attic fan and added some inflow vents as well. There was also significant wood repair to the roof decking secondary to water damage over the years. In this particular case, the insurance claim came up short on a significant amount of roofing materials and labor. We assisted the homeowner with the supplement to cover the additional costs of his roof replacement. | $6k | Homewood, AL
Mountain Brook Roof Replacement | Jun 2015 | We were called out to perform a roof inspection for suspected storm damage because of a moderate to severe leak in the attic coming down through the ceiling. We assessed the roof and advised the client to file a claim on the roof. Our assessment was correct, and the insurance company paid to have the roof replaced, minus the homeowner's deductible. Once the tear-off was complete, there were several places where rotten wood needed to be replaced, especially around the chimney where the most significant leak was coming into the house. We placed a new GAF Timberline HD Pewter Gray shingle, completing the job, including cleanup, in one day. The homeowners seemed very happy knowing that their home was protected from further leaks. | $14k | Mountain Brk, AL
Vestavia Hills Duplex Exterior Overhaul | Apr 2015 | This project started out as the replacement of a storm damaged roof. Then it started to develop into a larger project, so as to preserve the building by updating it, making it safer, and providing the owner with an asset that was in great shape for keeping or passing on. The roof was replaced with GAF Timberline HD Weathered Wood Lifetime shingle. Crickets were build to the proper size to deflect the water runoff properly. The existing gutters were removed. There were several areas of rotten soffit and fascia, so these areas were replaced and painted. The Masonite siding on the structure was damaged and retaining water, so this was removed and replaced with Hardy Plank and painted. This duplex had two decks, both of which were unsteady and unsafe. The decks were replaced and were very solidly constructed. Lastly, the four wooden garage doors were replaced with metal doors and four new motors. Overall, this project took about two weeks and the homeowner, as well as both tenants, were very happy with the results. | $37k | Vestavia Hills, AL
Hoover Roof with Storm Damage | Apr 2016 | This customer was missing shingles after a recent storm. We were called to evaluate the roof, and there was other damage as well. Insurance paid the claim, and the roof was replaced. An end unit of a four condo building that was completed in two days. We placed a dimensional GAF Weathered Wood shingle that the customer chose to fit a large portion of the neighborhood. It turned out very nicely. | $7k | Hoover, AL
