May 2014 Easco installed Lennox gas heat/air ($9600) and new duct work ($1700). The entire problem is that they installed a 5 ton unit when a 4 ton is warranted. This is due to the fact the house was built in 1890 and there wasn't a speck of insulation. NOBODY inquired as to whether or not we planned to insulate in the future. The only contact I ever had was with Marty Luchak who wanted payment. His helper was a piece of work--he kept nagging and asking if we were going to rent the home. We have had nothing but trouble from the get-go. They originally only taped the duct work together. It started to come apart and allow air into the attic on 2 occasions. Easco did finally come out in 2016 and hard cement it all together. The duct work looks like a drunken octopus. The kitchen is hotter than Hades, even in winter. We close the vent when the heat is running. They used a 7" duct to the kitchen, with a 45 degree roller coaster down-turn. In addition, the kitchen traps heat and an additional 12" return is required for proper cooling and heating. The house is perspiring from the oversized unit. Easco's answer was to turn the fan speed down, which isn't much of an answer. Our only recourse is to either completely replace the system; or at the very least, replace the outside condenser. It is now Feb. 2017 and it is going to cost us thousands of dollars to re-do what we paid $11,300 for in 2014. We are not made of money (only scraping by) and I am literally sick about the whole affair. 11/15/17 - Since Clyde responded to my review, I thought I would update y'all on our progress. It is going to cost approximately $8,000 to replace the work originally performed by Easco. We have replaced the outside unit, put an additional return in the kitchen, replaced the TX valve, reset the copper lines (placed and curved so high that the oil in the Freon clogged up in the turns and burned the TX valve out). And as an FYI, the TX valve was put on AFTER MARKET, so there was no warranty on that item from Lennox. Ask Clyde why they do it that way? We are two-thirds of the way done. It is going to cost around $2500 to re-do the duct work--which we hope to get done early next year. The only thing that will be allowed to stay is the gas furnace. The reason the over-sized furnace works is because the house is old and not energy efficient. I hope to find the inspection report that was done prior to our purchase of the home. I would bet $100 that there was a 4 ton unit at that time and Easco replaced it with a 5 ton unit. I cannot say if it was to take advantage of us, incompetence, or to get rid of equipment that they wanted to sell off. The inspector would have made a note of the serial numbers in his report because the equipment wasn't functioning. As you can see from his response, Clyde's answer was to blame the mess off on the contractor and throw him under the bus. And for him to say the contractor "commissioned" them--I personally wrote the first check for the down-payment. We were new in town, wanted Lennox equipment and didn't know any better. At the end of the day, it is Clyde's license and reputation on the line. AND it gets better. After all of this back and forth, they recently sent us two emails telling us "they missed us" and it is time for our fall check-up. Unbelievable!!

Clyde came out and gave a very thorough professional presentation. My heat pump is 16 years old and while still working it is near the end of the road. One option he gave was a Trane XLi A/C (not sure what the SEER rating is). The estimate for a change out using my duct work and electrical was $10,500. I told Clyde the price was higher than expected. He mentioned he would look at other options ie. scratch and dent or something. I know I will need to make a buying decision in the foreseeable future., but have time on my side as my Rheem heat pump is still working. Currently I am not shopping while waiting to see if something develops.
