Dear prospective customer of JC’s Carpentry and Remodeling OR Interior Woodworx (Houzz), I urge you to beware of JC Munoz. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing who will use your good nature to deceive and cheat you. Read my story and see that it ends with JC Munoz leaving with our money and becoming a suspect of check fraud. We signed a contract for JC Munoz to complete the following projects: Coffered ceilings, wainscotting, a wall with pocket doors, and bookcases for our daughter’s room and an office. JC Munoz asked for half the money up front (~$11.5k) and was seemingly honorable until the last leg of the project. After building trust with us during two months of working in our home, JC Munoz approached us in December 2020 and said he needed $3,910 for the materials needed to build the last project, our daughter’s and office bookshelves. Although the second half of the payment wasn’t due until the fulfillment of the contract, my husband and I believed we had reached a level of intimacy and trust with JC Munoz. We agreed to his request for the $3,910, and he assured us that he’d return to our home on January 7, 2021 to begin installation of the bookshelves he was allegedly building in his workshop at home. He even took the $100 puck lights we purchased for the office bookcases so he could make them fit the cabinets exactly. He wished us a Happy New Year and went on his merry way. At the time of this writing, February 13, 2021, JC Munoz has never returned to fulfill the contract he signed with us. He took our money and he ghosted us. When it dawned on my family that JC Munoz would never return to the job, we returned to the contract and realized that JC Munoz asked for the precise amount of $3,910 for “materials” because it was the exact amount of the sum total of the projects he had completed up to that point. Legally, he has committed the crime of material breach by not fulfilling the contract. We have every right to go after him legally. To add insult to injury, JC Munoz and his crew are also under suspicion of check fraud. Sixteen days ago, my husband and I woke up to our bank statement indicating that one of our physical checks was ripped from our checkbook and used to pay $1,500 to an unemployed roofer/builder residing in Pearland whom we have never worked with. The photocopy of the check indicates that it was one in a series of checks that were located in an area where JC Munoz and his crew-- his younger brother Jose and Rueben, an affiliate-- were working. The investigation is ongoing.

We hire JC to help one of our carpentry remodel projects by paying him 50% of the deposit since July 2020, since then the owner of the company JC Munoz has been pushing back the working schedule and eventually he disappear abd had not yet refund the deposit of a job that he never started. He claimed this is due to COVID-19, however, JC has no interest and initiative to set up a plan to return the deposit. Background: JC took the deposit and claimed he bought the materials. We never saw any materials. When we asked him to just return the materials and the balance of refund he refused to do so. We asked to set up a Payment plan but he ignored the request. Owner of JCs Carpentry & Remodel disorganized way of managing his business money had caused us negative impact both financially and creditablity. In my opinion, if the owner of a business would not own up their responsibility and do the right things for their client and trade how do you trust their workThis is absolutely disheartening. Sincerely yours, Owner of JoJo Wong Design & Remodel (we always stand by our quality work and responsibility)
