Weather Master never called me about the project, but after two no-shows, I finally called them at 9a. They said they could schedule an appointment later in the afternoon. When I asked about rates, the rep on the phone seemed hesitant to respond, but finally said that the standard diagnostic fee is $99. I was surprised because their normal business hour rate is nearly as much as the extra $$ in the weekend rate that others quoted. I really had to pry for more answers about cost simply for the rep to explain that after diagnostics, the plumber would assess additional cost and if over $200, then the diagnostic fee is waived. I understand normal practice where you cannot know the exact cost until the actual plumber can assess the problem; however, I already explained that there was a leak at the coupling for the water line (no cracked pipes, etc.), so I knew the job was a simple one - I just did not have the correct tool to repair myself. The plumber called as expected at 12:05p and arrived 5 minutes later, so immediately I showed him exactly where was the leak and he agreed it was a small task to repair the simple leak at the coupling. Although he finished very quickly (12:35p), he then charged me $250. I was completely taken aback since other companies quoted $175, which included the extra for non-working hours. I and will never use this company again. I also warn any others, especially women, to choose another company because the prices are absolutely ridiculous for such a small project that I could have fixed myself with the right tool. It is unimaginable what it would have cost if there was a more extreme repair problem!!
