I do not know where to start and will be adding more to this review in the future. In short, Earthadelic misrepresented the supplies they were using to build a patio cover to be of a higher quality than what they actually used, they committed many installation errors resulting in a faulty drainage solution, they reused old excavated dirt filled with debris and gravel to regrade my yard leaving it full of trash and gravel. I was not able to see the gravel and trash in the yard because of thick straw covering laid down after seeding. When I noticed the numerous problems I contacted the owner Dale. Three times he told me he would come out to my house to inspect the issues but never showed. I have come to realize that my only recourse is legal action to recover some of my losses and reached out to the owner one last time. He informed me that he was unwilling to do anything to help correct any of the problems. I am planning to move forward with legal action against the company. I plan on creating a reddit thread which will include a full discourse of the nightmare I experienced with earthadelic along with testimony from other landscapers who have reviewed the work and neighbors who witnessed the problems. I'll post the link to the thread here once it's available. One example of the problems is that they installed a drain pipe elbow upside down (seep hole should be on the bottom not the top of the elbow) causing standing water in the pipe. The pipe was also installed with a backflow toward the house resulting in eventual flooding at the corner of the house. One of the key issues is that the owners showed no concerns for the details of operations of the job. Different crews would show up on different days with multiple crews having no idea of the scope of work or the design. There was no quality control. There were continual excuses and misrepresentations. I'm working on a full discourse with documentation, timelines and pictures for a small claims case against earthadelic. After the case is settled I'll post the discourse to help prevent the same experience from happening to others.

Foothills | Jul 2017 | We worked closely with this client to renovate their existing kitchen to a more useable space for daily use. New floors, kitchen cabinets, appliances, electrical, plumbing, countertops, and light fixtures were installed. In addition to the kitchen renovation, we knocked down a wall to lead to a new sun room addition right off the kitchen. Exposing the existing brick that was once on the outside of the home and matching the window trim to look like the rest of the home were details that meant a lot to the client. | Rockwood, TN
Chesire | May 2017 | New landscaping to enhance curb appeal, updated driveway with new brick retaining wall, landscape lighting through out, new sun room addition, and pergola. | Knoxville, TN
White Oak | Dec 2015 | This home is nestled in a private, heavily wooded property. The home’s orientation to the wooded area behind the house left the back yard screaming for a place to relax and hang out. Taking advantage of the natural surroundings, Landscape Architect Patrick Beasley, drew up a well designed outdoor living space for the back yard. Having already added onto the back of their charming home, the homeowners had a large, fairly empty space to the side of back of the house. On a bit of a slope with large mature trees all around, it was difficult to pinpoint the exact location of the new patio and structure without impacting the majestic trees. Complementing the architecture of the new home, the design called for a 20 by 20 foot Pavilion to cover the new outdoor kitchen and multi-patterned paver patio. The curvilinear transition from the house was reciprocated by a semi-circular, fire pit patio on the opposite side of the gable roof structure. Stepping down to the lower patio called for the fire pit to be surrounded by a raised retaining wall which allowed for abundant seating to accommodate many guests. Selecting materials was made simple by the ornate stone work apparent used to veneer both the front of the home and the chimney to the back of the house. That same fieldstone was matched perfectly to construct the 2 foot by 2 foot columns that anchored the pavilions’ four corners. Moreover the native stone was used to wrap the custom outdoor kitchen, fire pit and surrounding seat wall. A multi-pattern of pavers were utilized to tie it all together. The sloped area did require some minor initial grading to prepare the site for construction. With such large canopy coverage overhead, Earthadelic was highly sensitive to the respective root systems of these large beautiful trees. Therefore we were challenged to pinpoint the precise elevations that limited the excavation. Once the elevations were carefully set, the column, wall and outdoor kitchen footings were poured thus providing the final footprint with which to construct the outdoor masterpiece. We began with our block work and setting the support posts for the pavilion. We then doubled up our task force of both skilled carpenters and stone masons and went to work. Once the pavilion was completed, we were able to configure the kitchen area and install the sink, grill and refrigerator. Then we put in the pavers which was the perfect accent to the surrounding stone and carpentry work. The homeowners now have the ultimate outdoor living space fit for every season. The all encompassing outdoor kitchen is prime for a family or neighborhood barbecue. The fire pit creates the perfect center point for laughter and fun oh so close to home. | Sevierville, TN
Water Wonderland Project | Sep 2015 | We met our homeowners at a local home show and understood the vision they had for their outdoor living space immediately. They explained that there was a lovely view of the mountains from their home, but no way to really enjoy it as the back deck was hidden from the line of site to the mountains. They also wanted new, and much needed, landscaping that would compliment the back yard and the view. In addition, a mountain stream with cascading waterfalls. My first visit to the home left me speechless as I looked at the grand view, vast and panoramic, of the Tennessee mountains. The objective was clear, the challenge was evident. The first consideration was creating an outdoor living space that would allow the homeowners to enjoy the magnificent view in comfort while still being a part of an already existing outdoor living area on the back of their home. Often, separated areas on an estate can be difficult to bring together in such a way that everyone feels included when gathering together with guests or family. There was certainly some updating to do on the existing deck and landscape as well, and then, that little note about cascading waterfalls. To further add to the challenge, the enclosed back screen porch was outdated and not weather proof at all which meant it was a seasonal feature at best. The design solution began with the water feature. Every single famous, and beloved, landscape throughout history, without exception, has a water feature running through its heart. We are drawn to them because of their soothing and calming effects. The placement of this aspect at the site was critical. A beautiful and natural stone patio with seating walls would allow for an enjoyable view of the majestic Tennessee mountains while a new overlay of “Trex Trandscend” for the existing deck and a custom glass sun room update for the old screened porch allowed views to the stunning new landscape in comfort all year long. With all of the homeowners' desires accounted for the installation could now begin. The custom stone patio was first, as all aspects of the new design would work around it. The next step was the water feature. The view, being so vast, meant a large and roaming stream, which gentle surrounded and meandered past the patio before making its way down the hill to an incredible series of waterfalls and finally arriving at a beautiful pond, complete with water lilies and Japanese koi. The water feature is surrounded with a massive perennial garden that explodes in seasonal color and attracts hundreds of butterflies. The new deck and sun room are also now offering incredible views to the new landscaping and can be enjoyed all year. The homeowners are loving their new lifestyle and the transformation has not gone unnoticed by all their neighbors as well, who have slowed down while driving by and then come to the door, just to get a glimpse. | Parrottsville, TN
Schriver | Aug 2015 | Our client’s home was beautifully nestled on top of a large hill, completely wooded, with an open front lawn area and custom gardens all around. Large flagstone patios around the back of the home give way to magnificent views directly into the tree canopies as the hillside quickly falls away- and there is where the challenge was born. The existing back lawn area, very small in size, was too steep to enjoy in any way and yet, our client’s had a very distinct vision for a level green lawn area that offered comfortable seating and a sense of peace and privacy. After many conversations and careful considerations a final plan was approved and the project was underway. The first step of execution was the construction of a custom stone wall approximately “90’ in length and ‘3’ tall that would allow for a much larger back yard that was not only level, but big enough to incorporate the new features of the outdoor living area. At this point, careful attention was given to rerouting all aspects of drainage, power, and irrigation. A second “living” boulder wall was constructed, another specific vision the clients had, and planted in a spectacular array of Sedums and Sempervivens. It was this second wall that allowed for a slightly elevated area which allowed for a powerful view of the entire new outdoor sanctuary. Next was the installation of a custom flagstone patio, approximately ‘350’ square feet, tied gently into the lower serpentine wall and then a water feature, or balanced eco-system, with ‘80’ of stream that meanders to a’18’ X ‘22’ pond, complete with water lilies and Japanese koi, that runs all the way from the elevated viewing area down to the patio. The final stage was an extensive ornamental landscape, including rare Japanese maples and lavish perennial gardens, that create an extensive display of color throughout all four seasons of the year. The end result was not only metamorphic-it’s visually stunning. The entire area is full of intrigue and there are endless views as you sit at different elevations, all allowing unique perspectives. Our clients are now enjoying the new environment often with friends and family and maintain it has become their favorite place on the estate. | Knoxville, TN
Rippling Waters Creek | Mar 2015 | The Objective: To create an outdoor living area that offered the feel of a mountain stream, but also contained the elements of fire, lighting, and plenty of area for entertainment. The Challenge: The creation of a natural water feature in Tennessee is normally as easy going as a walk in the park, however, the homeowners had a flat yard to begin with. Yes, even in Tennessee some folks do have a flat yard and this is where the tremendous challenge comes in. Done poorly, a project like this looks worse than just contrived, it looks like gophers on steroids moved on to your property and the end result can be a major disappointment. The Design Solution: The home is a beautiful study in interior décor that rivals a museum of warmth, comfort, and beauty, both in taxidermy from the homeowners worldwide hunting trips, impeccable taste in art decor, and paintings. They have also gone to great lengths with many massive window views to ensure that the outside landscape became an intimate part of the homes feel from inside. The first step was, without question, terra forming. That meant a lot of soil being brought in to drastically change the lay of the land, as it were. The Installation Approach: Step one, before any real construction could begin, was to take care of all primary drainage that was going to be changed through the terra forming process. The re-routing of downspouts, special consideration to all runoff in major rain events, and the strategic capture of water to serve the needs of newly installed landscaping were carefully executed. Next was the excavation to the proper sub-base which would hold the footers for the patio, seat wall, and fire pit. Tremendous care and concern was given to progressively lower elevations over the ‘130’ of stream to be installed, with waterfalls along the way, so that when you entered the stream head, you were slowly brought to the nestled living areas with the feeling of invited comfort and serenity beside the placid and crystal clear pond, which gently surrounds and embraces the patio. Special attention was given to the streams meandering design and sound levels, which invoke incredibly peaceful feelings while still allowing quiet and intimate conversations. Finally the custom perennial gardens, shrubbery, and tress were installed to compete the look and feel of all that we naturally see and experience in these settings throughout our great state. The Result: The setting rivals many places we travel to in the mountains to escape the day to day stresses we all face. Mark and Judy are so excited to have this kind of experience right outside their back door and a local high school was so taken by the project that the senior class came and had their graduation pictures taken. The homeowners have absolutely enjoyed and embraced their new life style, entertaining friends, family, and the new realization that the mountains are no longer an hour away, their just beyond the back door. | Sevierville, TN
Lakeland | Feb 2015 | Project goal/objective: The hilltop estate was an entirely new construction, with only basic landscaping that seemed incomplete given the scale of the house and the beauty it offered. The home is situated in a deep hardwood forest that sits atop a very popular lake. Therefore our vision primarily directed its focus at the potential for additions and use enhancement in order to maximize the enjoyment of the property given its wonderful natural surroundings. The Challenge: Due to its location above the lake, the property is full of sloped areas with variable terrain, including some steep grades. This required a well considered grading plan incorporating natural fieldstone boulder walls and weathered boulder and Flagstone steps to retain desired areas for improved access to the back yard and new natural stone fire pit patio. Unfortunately, given the home’s wooded setting, a few mature trees were compromised by all of the root damage and compaction from the original construction. Therefore our very first move required us to remove these trees and stumps before beginning the new final grade work for the property. There were also many additions and modifications to make to the original landscape lighting and irrigation system in order to accommodate the latest landscape plan. Design Solution: After meeting and discussing design objectives with the homeowners, we focused on creating entertainment areas, adding privacy from a neighboring residence, and improving access to the lake via the back yard. Literally employing the old adage – “let form follow function”, we designed the access areas first to set the hardscape footprint around which to get creative with our landscape design. The front yard was also in dire need of some creative influence. Given the back drop of the lake, we felt compelled to offer a multi-level, fast flowing Water Feature and Koi Pond in the front yard visible from the main entrance and dining room. The sloped nature of the property lent itself to the meandering stream and waterfalls already, making it a perfect match for the space. The water feature design will in time manifest into a self sustaining eco – system once the plant and aquatic life begin to prosper. Other design objectives focused on forest restoration, boulder walls and staircases, a flagstone patio with a masonry stone fire pit, all connected by newly formed lawn contour wit large flagstone slabs embedded into the turf to serve as a path to maximize the usable yard space. Installation Approach: First, we tore out the dead trees and old plant material which was necessary to get started. Then we began the final grade work and excavation for the stone patio. Once all of the hardscape stone elements were complete, it was time to focus on the water feature. Mike Martin, one of our representatives who is an expert in koi ponds, presented a tactical way to have the large water feature area excavated and lined all in one day, but that was the easy part. We began the careful construction of the stone faces on the Kerfs and stacked the stone inside of the pond. Next, we ran the auto-fill valve coming off the main water-line to the house to keep the appropriate water level in the water feature. With another heavy lifting component under our belts it was time to focus on the planting details. First up were the large trees. We then installed all of the smaller shrubs and perennials flowers of which many were evergreen for Winter accent. With all of the landscaping elements in place, we modified the irrigation and lighting, including a significant addition of area lights positioned along the stone staircases and paths. The Result: The estate is now a landscape showplace with an abundance of natural elements centered around the notion of entertaining and spending time with family. | Lenoir City, TN |
