Peter Bourget is extremely unprofessional. He may do good work and I probably dodged a bullet not working with him *because* he is so unprofessional and immature, but I feel that others should know about his demeanor and inability to communicate properly since it could impact their project negatively. First of all, he rescheduled on me multiple times (once due to his father's passing which I totally understood) but the other times were just random. When we finally did sync up and were scheduled to begin, he was very lax in communication and didn't give me a firm time. He just texted me "Thursday looks good"..."am". He maintains that the onus was on me, the client, to confirm with him. I work with a lot of contractors and not once have they ever relied on ME to confirm with THEM. That's laughable. Anyway, the day before he was to begin, the WHO announced that the U.S. was officially in a pandemic and told citizens to prepare. I then realized that I didn't have a schedule from him and since I had his mobile number, I began texting him in the evening because I have 80yo parents that needed my assistance and I wasn't even sure if he was showing up given his propensity for flaking. I just had the two vague texts messages from him. No time, nothing. Since it was evening, he didn't reply (but the next day got mad that I would DARE text him and expect him to respond after 6pm because he's a legit business). Weird in an age of cell phones but, "Okay boomer." Being that he had a history of rescheduling on me for various reasons, I decided helping my parents prepare for the pandemic was paramount and let him know that I would not be available. The next text message I received was the following morning letting me know that his contractor was on the way. That means he didn't even BOTHER reading my messages from the night before. When I informed him that I was not on site, he became extremely hostile and chastised ME for not confirming with him. I apologized profusely and explained the unique circumstances regarding the pandemic and my elderly parents. Recall that I was very understanding when his father died. Apparently, he expects his clients to be flexible but won't afford his clients the same courtesy. Anyway, after he calmed down a bit, I agreed to reschedule on Friday (which, as I write this, would be tomorrow). In what I can now see is a passive-aggressive, retaliatory move, he cancelled on me for tomorrow--too late for me to cancel the large dumpster I have arriving. He claims he has a more pressing job that came up at the last minute. Right. Anyway, whether or not that's true isn't the point. He was hostile, rude, condescending, and ultimately ended up YELLING and talking over me and then ending the call by HANGING UP on me like a 12yo child. RUN do not walk away from this unprofessional, rude, and flaky person. He has now thrown my entire project off kilter. I'm redoing a 1920s cottage for my elderly parents and due to his flakiness and unprofessionalism, I have to start all over to find someone to repair the foundation at the house. This will delay my project by weeks at least.
