Vang 2 reviews 4 minutes ago Critical: Professionalism, Value I rarely write negative reviews as I'm often too busy to write them, but when John refused to finish a job for me unless I wrote and mailed him a letter claiming I would never leave a review regarding my negative experience with All Seasons Landscaping, that basically was the straw that broke the camel's back! First of all, be ready to be nickeled and dimed for every little thing once they begin the work. One of the contracted jobs we had him do was was to put in a rock garden on both sides of our building. Well, if your idea of a rock garden is some rocks thrown against the wall of your home with NO edging to separate the "stepping stones" walkway, then you might be satisfied with John's work. Oh, you want an edging?? That will cost you more $$$. You would THINK a quote for a rock garden includes the edging, but not with him! That's like getting a quote for a car and discovering it doesn't come with doors. Another project was for John to put in a gravel driveway for us. He agreed to remove a stump for us, and included that in the the contract. Then, verbally, he said he would clear up a small extra area for us where the stump was so we can make our driveway a little larger. We asked him how much extra he was going to charge for that, and he said he would throw that in. AFTER they removed the stump and cleared the extra area, he presented us with a new contract and wanted over $1100 more! We refused to pay that amount as he told us he would throw that in! We didn't want him to do a shoddy job the rest of the time, so we agreed to pay half of what he wanted (although I totally regret doing that!). After he seeded our yard with winter rye, rain would wash the seeds away and the birds ate the seeds. We asked if he planned to do anything to help prevent this. Of course he could, but it would cost more $$. So if John promises you some grass, don't expect it unless you plan to give him more $$ after the fact. When they finally got around to to doing the driveway, we discovered he only ordered enough gravel to give us a 2 inch driveway! A properly finished gravel driveway should be 6-8 inches of mixed gravel, layered and compacted. We basically had to pay for another load of gravel to give us at least 3-4 inches of gravel. Then his worker didn't want to spread the third load, saying he was only asked to spread two loads. This was worked out, and he agreed to do the third load, but right at 4pm, he had to leave, so we had to spread the remaining gravel BY HAND, as rain was in the forecast for the next few days and we were tired of dealing with the mud. They also did not have the proper equipment to compact the gravel layer by layer, so we had to drive our truck over it and compacted it ourselves. Finally, we also asked him to build us six 4x8 ft elevated garden beds out of cedar. When these were delivered, we discovered only part of the sides and the legs were cedar. The other half of the sides and the entire bottoms were built from some other material and sprayed with some black rubber chemical. I wasn't about to have this chemical leach into our soil and into our food, so we refused the boxes as they were not what we had asked for. This last day was so hectic due to this mess, that I wrote him the check without realizing that he hadn't put sod over the rocks covering the French drain they put in. When I texted him to ask when they planned to finish that up was when he told me I'd have to send him the letter stating I wouldn't leave a negative review before he would come out to finish the job. I never planned to leave any review, but his request was so ridiculous, I told him he could keep his sod and I'd write a review instead. He threatened to sue me if I wrote a review! What a joke! I can't write an honest review in America?? Stay far away from this company unless you want to be nickled and dimed and deal with headaches!
