Avoid working with Jennifer Moore (Lubbock Country Quarters) and Ultimate Sold. Jennifer is an unfair and unjust landlord who has failed to communicate clearly with me. I needed to leave my apartment so I agreed with Jennifer to sublease. She, my roommate, and I all agreed on a person to sublease. I moved out and the sublease started, but I would not get my security deposit back until the end of the original lease and my name was still on the original lease. My security deposit was $500, which Jennifer told me I would get back "minus any damages/cleaning fees". Yesterday, the original lease ended so I called Jennifer to get my security deposit back. It turns out that there had been another person added to the sublease because the first person had to leave. This new person only paid $200 for their security deposit. Then, that person moved out and a final person was subleasing. The final person got their security deposit waived, however. Now, Jennifer says that missing rent and damages from those people who subleased and left will be subtracted from my $500 security deposit. She said she "kind of kept good records" but needs to go through the "paper trail" to figure out just how much she needs to take from my deposit. I did not damage the home when I lived there and had only agreed to the first person on the sublease. I had not known that there were 2 additional people involved until I had left. I told Jennifer that I need my $500 back but she said she "does not want to pay out of pocket". I am being used to cover damages and rent payment issues I did not cause and knew nothing about. If there were going to be more people on the sublease in succession, I should have been informed. Jennifer made it seem that my deposit would only be deducted for damages or cleaning fees, but now she is using it to cover missing rent from the previous people subleasing. Thus, she did not make the intent of the security deposit clear. Jennifer is being unjust by that and unjust by hesitating to return my deposit yet charging another person only $200 and waiving the other person's deposit entirely. Security deposits should be kept constant for every tenant. I have done everything I can to make the sublease go smoothly and in return Jennifer is unjustly using me for my money. She is an unfair landlord who is unwilling to communicate and I would not recommend her or her company to anyone.
